| chrismc_us's Full Review: Liquid Glass Polish/Finish |
I started using liquid glass about a year ago, about 3 months after buying a new car. Originally I was using carnuba wax, but started looking for something better as the wax was giving me swirl marks and is difficult to remove from the vinyl and rubber on the car. I found a bottle of Liquid Glass at Autozone for $16. I would never dream of spending this much on car polish unless I had been well advised, which I had.
Before applying Liquid Glass, you have to prepare the paintwork using pre-cleaner. This is a lot of work, but only needs to be done once, it is not advisable to skip the preparation step as Liquid Glass does not give good results when applied over wax. I used a wax remover and clay bar to prepare mine.
Once the preparation work is done, applying Liquid Glass is easier than waxing, simply apply sparingly in a back-and-forth motion, let it haze and buff to a shine. Liquid glass buffs away easily (provided you don't let it bake in the sun or apply too much) and does not leave white dust everywhere like wax does, it is also easy to remove from vinyl and rubber making life a lot easier. I usually apply it to the whole car before buffing to a glossy shine. After buffing, leave the car parked in the sun for a few hours and then add more coats if desired for a deeper shine.
The finish that liquid glass gives your car is an amazing deep, mirror like shine. I have used a variety of wax and polish products, but none of those have produced a shine like this. After several coats it gets difficult to see the deep red color of my car due to the sky reflecting on it. I have had many people compliment me on how good it looks.
I have about 6 coats of Liquid Glass on the car and it looks amazing even though I haven't applied any to it for a couple of months. I also noticed a significant decrease in the number of chips in the paint (which the nose and hood of the car were very susceptible to before) due to the hard, long lasting shell that coats the finish.
You can also use liquid glass around the home, I use it on everything from mirrors to furniture, it shines and protects just about any hard surface you put it on. I have almost used up my first can, after a year of polishing my car often and using it in the house. Liquid Glass goes a long long way, and probably works out cheaper in the long run than anything else. More people should know about Liquid Glass, it is a revolutionary product and I would never apply anything else to my car again.
Update: 09/28/2006. I have been using liquid glass on my car for a number of years now. Finally the car seems like it's nearing the end of its life mechanically but still looks like brand new and is super shiny thanks to this amazing product.
Update: 07/01/2007. I finally bought a new car, and immediately stripped off the wax and put on some liquid glass. Looks wonderful as I expected. The previous car I owned had a blown head gasket, punctured gas tank, bad spark plugs etc. However, it's body still looked brand new thanks to liquid glass. You owe it to yourself to buy this wonderful product.
