Right next to the convention center

The only problem I have with LuLu's is that it is right next to the Moscone Convention Center and has made me miss valuable convention time during lunch. Whenever I go to San Francisco on business, I make it a point to get to LuLu's once, if not more frequently. First off the oven made and smoked fare is wonderful: from pizza to mussels to rabbit. These folks know how to use a mean oven! In addition the wine by the glass list is the most extensive I have ever run across, bar none. From France, Germany and Italy, to Australia, California and Argentina, there is a wine for anyone's palate available there.
Beyond the oven, LuLu's has a constantly changing selection of game meats available, and a few different types of fowl enter in on the menu on a frequent basis. This is the place for the weary conventioneer, and I fit that bill all too often. And a duck sausage platter, with a nice California red is just the ticket to make me waste an hour or so over lunch.
The wait staff is average for the lunch crowd, and I prefer dining at the bar, which is long and has a dedicated bar tender to see to the needs of the customer. Definitely have a go for the grappa and have an espresso with it. And maybe a dessert. Then you've spent two hours there and have missed yet another session at the convention.
Now for the racking and stacking of LuLu's: 2.5 stars out of 3 for food selection, quality and preparation; 1 star out of 1 for beverage selection with the largest by the glass wine list I've ever seen; 0.15 stars out of 0.5 for wait staff; and 0.25 for ambience, decor and intangibles. Rack that up and you get 3.9 stars which rounds up to 4 stars for their oven cooked foods.
