| imadanat's Full Review: Manhattan Hotel |
This is really a Motel NY Style. This hotel is suited for a one, max two night stay, and for an individual or a couple desperate to stay in the city. This hotel address is also known as Manhattan Broadway Hotel. The picture features here is not in the hotel.
Location:
Very nice location, keep in mind that blocks in New York City are small. This hotel is 3 blocks from TIME SQUARE, 4 blocks to NY #1 RED LINE METRO, 6 blocks to the Empire State Building.
Public elevator parking is close on 37 between 8th and 9th. One block from the hotel, payed $30 per day, and it is worth it as we walked/use Metro.
Looks:
Well, you get what you pay for, a small old building, nothing fancy. This is an old building the fashion district that was converted into a hotel. You walk to a narrow hallway to the back to see the front desk; the front is a Chinese restaurant. The hallways and stairways are narrow, makes you wonder how they got the mattresses in. No carpet in the hallway, so it keeps them bright, and somewhat easy to clean. You see elements of periods past next to new accessories.
Rooms:
Wow, they managed to squeeze 2 double beds and a bunk beds in what would be a double in other hotels. Very limited space to walk in the room, a standalone closet, and a small mirror desk. Stuff doesnt match in case you care. One night is all we could take. Really the room is fit for a quick shower and crash for the nigh.
The building is for sure ancient, it has seen its share of renovations and some of those remain in it. A lot of makeshift wood boxes to cover old heater system pipes etc. The room were newly painted and carpeted (I am sure it was easy to carpet than replace the old floor). And we got a visit from a roach.
Amenities:
Breakfast: Not included, there is no Cafeteria in the hotel. But plenty of Delies and starbuck/Dunkin donuts one block away.
Towels/Soap: Bring your own, very old and mismatched, you wonder where they from. No soap. But the quick market is around the corner.
Shower: Yes
Hot water: Yes
Heater: there is a heater unit, but did not work.
A/C: there were few windows units.
View: we got the brick view of the next building; the only window with the view of the city will be looking at the busy street below if any.
Iron: there was one in the hallway for public use.
Phone: we did not have any in our room.
Hair Dryer: a couple were in the bathroom, not sure why.
Internet: the Hotels ahs a big sign advertising this, but all we saw was a Desktop PC setup near the front desk but the paper sign attached to it said no Google, no Yahoo, and no Hotmail, and ZERO privacy.
