ldusold's Full Review: Mary Kay Signature Eye Primer
Who ever heard of using "Primer" on their eyes? I must say that when I first heard that there would be a new product out called Eye Primer from the Mary Kay™ line, I was thinking, "What will they come up with next?" I'm usually a skeptical person, and I always tend to think that strange sounding things are just a gimmick to get you to buy them. I'm here to tell you, this is not the case here. Of course I used a sample before using the actual product, and the MK Signature™ Eye Primer is true to it's word.
This is what Mary Kay has to say "Here's the perfect primer to help you create eye looks that grab attention. This new, waterproof formula creates a foundation so your eye colors glide on smoothly and stay perfectly in place longer without creasing or smudging. It's proven to extend and intensify eye color."
My first reaction to that was, WHY on earth would someone need a base coat under their eye shadow, and wouldn't it make your eye lids feel weighed down, and does the eye shadow REALLY last that much longer when using this product? Well I put it to the test by using a sample first. Considering that I use a lot of Mary Kay™ products, my entire skin care and make up selection is Mary Kay's products, so why not go ahead and try the Primer!
The first thing I found out is that I applied too much, when you do it feels very sticky and actually pretty gross. That is NOT something that I want on my eyes. I washed it off, and started over, using just a very small dot on the tip of my fingertip. When using this very small amount, I found that the white cream is weightless, and goes on smooth. It blends very nicely, and you don't even notice that you've just applied it. Next I applied my eye shadow. If you've ever used any of the Color 101 looks from Mary Kay™, then you know that you usually have 3 colors to blend, using one as a highlighter, one for the crease of your eye, and one for the accent. Blending those colors properly can make a difference as to whether you look natural, or like a teenager using make up for the first time.
I have found that using MK Signature™ Eye Primer, has made it so that less eye shadow has to be applied, and it truly does make your color last longer. It keeps your color in place, making your eye shadow have that "Just Applied" look all day. Obviously if you are going to rub your eyes during the day, your eye shadow will fade, but I can say it won't be gone with just rubbing your eye once. I have found that my eye shadow stays in place for about 10 - 12 hours when using the eye primer. Without it, I think my eye shadow fades within 3 - 4 hours, leaving color in the creases of your eye but no where else.
Mary Kay's Signature™ Eye Primer comes in a small silver tube, and contains .3 ounces. It has a twist cap, and to use it, you simply remove the cap, and squeeze just a tiny dot out onto your finger. The sample that I used lasted a little over a week, and the squeeze tube is still not gone. I've had it for several months already. I know that this sounds like you aren't getting much in this tube, but you are getting a whole lot more than you expect. Considering that in this case a "Little Goes A Long Way".
This brings me back to my first question! "Who ever heard of using a "Primer" on their eyes?" Well, I don't think I could live without it. This has become one of my MUST HAVES in my Mary Kay skin care and make up routine. The cost is $12.00 for a tube, and I don't feel that it's at all expensive for the amount you get, because if you can buy a product that lasts for months, and be 100% satisfied with it, then it certainly can't be a waste of money, right?
If you are as skeptical as I always am, then why not find yourself a Mary Kay Consultant, and ask for a sample. Like I said, the sample will last you about a week, and that is certainly enough time to really see if this is a product for you. If you are as impressed as I was, you will be ordering the MK Signature™ Eye Primer in no time. You can locate a MK Beauty consultant by going to www.MaryKay.com. In most cases, these consultants have a website with online ordering, making your shopping quick and simple. Not only that, but you can find a lot of helpful hints on the website, as well as application and color tips.
So go ahead and Prime those eyes - You will be impressed - I was!
