Pros: It's Skeletor, figure comes with He-man video.
Cons: Double Blade Sword, Man Skirt Tassel, Action figure's arms hard to move at first.
The Bottom Line: Battle Sound Skeletor is great for He-man fans and makes for a nice display, but his double blade sword makes for a double pain the the behind.

| MagickCat's Full Review: Mattel Masters of the Universe: Battle Sound Skele... |
My cousin and I used to have epic He-man battles I was always Skeletor. Sometimes he would get bored of being the good guy, in fact a few times down right insolent. I would ask him why he thought he should get to be the villain; naively his answer was always because it was "his turn and it would only be fair."
Wrong answer Ninny.
Like I said I was always Skeletor.
Battle Sound Skeletor brings back good memories.
Ah Skelly, your nasal voice warms my Atria and Ventricles
Skelly says but one phrase, "Eternia will be mine henh henh henh he", followed by the clash of metal or if you prefer the "battle sound".
Due to the limited vocabulary provided by Mattel, I fear Battle Sound Skeletor and Battle Sound He-man will never be able to resolve their conflicts through arbitration:
Skeletor: "Eternia will be mine henh henh henh he" *battle sound*
He-man: "I have the power!" *battle sound*
Plainly Skeletor is willing to negotiate after reasonably stating his case, while He-man chooses to walk away from the table and resort to violence.
Battle Sound Skeletor's recording is not as loud or clear as Battle Sound He-man's barbarian war cry. In fact I would have to say it is slightly muffled. I'm not sure if it is the batteries in my Battle Skelly, but straight from the blister pack his voice seemed a little low.
I like how Skelly's battle sound is different from He-man's battle sound; I thought for sure they were going to be the same recordings. But Skeletor's battle sound is like swords ringing, whereas He-man's is like metal going clunk-thud.
The small round button you press to make Battle Sound Skeletor work is situated on the right side of his skull armor. Skellys button blends in even better than Battle Sound He-mans due to the button and his back being the same colour.
If you just want to listen to the melodic battle sound you can just twist Skeletors waist instead of pressing the button.
Anatomy of Skeletor
Just like Battle Sound He-man, Battle Sound Skeletor has been beautifully sculpted. Battle Sound Skeletor's outfit reminds me of a costume used in the MotU live action movie.
If you measure him from foot to spike tip, Skeletor stands at about 6 and a half inches tall.
Once again the figure is well proportioned though he does have a hunched back just like Battle Sound He-man sports. On He-man the hunched back looks out of place, on Skeletor it works because he is a villain.
Out of the box Skelly's arms were too stiff to move, leading me to believe that they were immobile. However after wrenching them around a bit, the arms now move around without any problem. Skelly's wrists also turn which is uber cool.
I have found that Battle Sound Skeletor is also easier to pose than Battle Sound He-man simply because he doesnt fall over half as much. This figure seems to have better balance and thus more possible poses.
Stupid Sword
Battle Sound Skeletor comes with 2 accessories, his ram-skull Havoc staff and double blade sword. The Havoc battle staff is taller than Skeletor (which can aid standing) and fits well into his grasp; unfortunately the stupid sword is another story.
The double blade sword is a sword that separates into two halves, one is purple and one is copper, now it looks pretty cool (not as cool as the Havoc staff) but only one half of Skeletors sword fits awkwardly into his hand. The problem is the double blade likes to fall apart and with half of the sword sticking out it is easy to loose part of this accessory.
You can also detach Skelly's rubber mantel of spikes, but I wouldn't remove this too often, as the plastic that holds it in place is very thin.
My Battle Sound Skeletor came with the classic He-man episode, The Problem with Power. I thought for sure that the store display had another variant Battle Sound Skeletor with different coloured armor and video, but I guess not.
The Verdict
This incarnation of Skeletor is impressive. When I was younger I always wished that action figures had more detail and were truer representations of the cartoon. Battle Sound Skeletor is definitely detailed, but now I see this has its drawbacks. On his man skirt, uhm waist armor, one of the tassels looks like the wind has swept it to the left. This is a nice detail at first but it soon becomes annoying because you cannot straighten the damned tassel out. If you are even slightly obsessive compulsive, this will drive you nuts.
I want a straight tassel so I can decide which way the wind is blowing Skelly's man skirt.
Despite the annoying double blade sword, Battle Sound Skeletor is good bang for your buck. 15 dollars for an action figure and video is an unbeatable combination. Or maybe I'm just grateful to see Skeletor back on toy shelves...
Reminds me to visit my cousin, thanks for the memories Mattel.
He-man fans should check out Mcdonalds this month. From May 2nd to May 29th Mcdonalds is selling mini He-man action figures. Am I suggesting you eat at McDonalds? Not unless you are exceedingly brave, but they do come inside Happy Meals.
