Pros: gives me the look I want at a cheaper price
Cons: requires drying time, hard to remove, clumps lashes
The Bottom Line: A very non-user friendly product that can leave you looking like Alex de Large. Takes practice and patience to get the look you want.

| ned1's Full Review: Maybelline Lash Stylist Mascara |
As someone who has very bad eyes and wears glasses all the time, I need to be careful what products I use on my eyes a high Rx means whatever eye makeup you choose to use will be magnified, so I want to use something that will show off my eyes behind the lenses, but not make them seem like they enter the room 5 minutes before I do - looking like Tammy Fayes half-sister is not the look I am going for.
I also seem to have very sensitive eyelids I generally stick with certain brands because I have found that the wrong product can cause my lids to feel raw and burn. By nature I am a Prescriptives girl and generally never had to pay for mascara because the woman who worked at my local counter would hook me with enough samples to get me through until the next time. I loved the mascara, but when she moved to another store and another line, I was faced with a problem drop some serious change on a tube of mascara or try a cheaper brand.
I made the decision to cheap out and try some drugstore brands after several failed purchases I tried Maybelline Lash Stylist Mascara and have been using it ever since. I will say that when I first started using it, I had issues I could only find the waterproof version of the product and it was HARD to remove, I know can get a washable formula that comes off a bit easier.
I will also say this mascara requires a lot of practice to get the look you want, if you arent a patient person, it might not be the best choice for you. If you are like me, and apply your mascara last, you may find yourself having to redo your makeup if you end up looking like Alex de Large from a A Clockwork Orange.
Information on the mascara can be found at - http://www.maybelline.com/. A brief summary of the mascara is as follows: exclusive two-tier v-styling comb sculpts and lifts lashes 65%, silky smooth formula delivers volume thats super thick, creates a unique new type of separation, available in washable and waterproof formulas. The color choices are very black, soft black and brownish black - I use very black.
What is unique about this product instead of a traditional brush to apply the mascara, you are given a styling comb with two different length bristles as someone who has to have eye next to the mirror to apply makeup, I find this much nicer to use the brush would often bump the mirror, the comb is narrow and now I never have issues.
Initially I did have problems with this mascara it is very wet and takes time to dry you also cant let it dry between coats (I have never used or felt a need to use a 2nd coat) because once its dry, you cannot apply on top of it. Which brings me to another point, getting it off your lashes is a pain and if you dont get it all off, good luck the next morning when you need to apply it again. It also has a tendency to clump your lashes together giving them that wonderful A Clockwork Orange look. Its great if you want to achieve that look, but I prefer a somewhat more natural look, and it did take practice combing from the base of the lash to the top and keeping the lashes separate. Once I mastered it, I could roll past both eyes quickly - all I had to do was to remember to wait to put my glasses back on to avoid it smudging on the lenses.
I can see why many would not like this product its harder to use, requires drying time, is hard to remove ( I have found that DHC Deep Cleansing Oil gets it off very easily) and can clump your lashes together. I happen to like it and the look it gives my lashes long and pretty, not too made up and just right behind my lenses. It did take some time to get it to where it is today, and I am glad I stuck with Maybelline Lash Stylist Mascara and worked it out.
