A few months ago I received Maybelline’s three products from their Pure line of makeup free in the mail. I already reviewed the Maybelline Pure Concealer which didn’t impress me at all. Now I will review the makeup, which seems like it’s the best product of the Pure line, then soon one day I will review the third product which is the Pure powder.
Maybelline’s Pure line of makeup came out about a year ago, it is make up that is free of oils and consists of mostly water. Making it perfect for oily skin types. My skin isn’t oily, but since I got this stuff for free, I figured I may as well put it to some use.
Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O comes in a light aqua blue squeeze tube. The tube features a gray screw off lid, each tube holds 1.0 ounce of product.
This makeup is currently available in 12 shades. Porcelain Ivory is the lightest and Cocoa is the darkest. Since I received my 3 products in the mail for free I didn’t really have a choice of shades to choose from, the shade I received is Classic Ivory and somehow it turned out to be a really good match for me, it is the second to the lightest shade they offer. The shade selection isn’t huge but there are a few dark, medium and light shades in the collection of shades.
When squeezing the tube to get some out, a very thin ribbon of makeup comes out through the tiny hole. I really like this, so my one-ounce truly goes a long way. I use little dollop smaller then a dime and spread it across my whole face after moisturizing. But before I apply this makeup, I first use concealer on any parts that may need cover up. My MAC Select Moisturecover in NW25 is exactly the same shade as Maybelline Pure Makeup in Classic Ivory, or it seems close enough to me. At first Pure Makeup looks a bit yellow, but once it’s on the skin and blended in it looks completely natural and my skin looks and feels flawless. Sometimes I follow with a light layer of sheer face powder.
Concealer under this makeup is essential for those of us who have flaws we need covered, as this makeup alone simply doesn’t do it.
I’ve been really impressed by the wear of this makeup, it is easy to apply, looks completely natural and feels weightless. It doesn’t fade mid day, and lasts all day. This makeup is designed for oily skin types, and I with dry skin have absolutely no problems wearing it. Those with oily skins as well as dry skins or normal skins will have to wear a good concealer under this makeup, but I don’t recommend the Pure concealer as it is simply not effective.
This makeup includes soothing ingredients like chamomile and aloe extracts to sooth oily skin. But it doesn’t feature an SPF.

Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O is available at drugstores and ulta.com for just $4.99. I highly recommend this makeup to anyone looking for easy and light coverage. This is great for all of us poor young students to have a foundation that is truly great, yet truly cheap.
