Pros: Light texture, oil-free, sporty packaging, excellent variety of colors
Cons: None! Except that NYC drugstores don't seem to carry the matching pressed powder.
The Bottom Line: If you're hesitant about drugstore brands, you'll be pleasantly surprised. It rivals Mac and Prescriptives, and the color variety is good.

| rugglebyc's Full Review: Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with ... |
Surprisingly, I am very pleased with this product. I generally loathe drugstore foundations. I tend to get dept store fdns, namely, Mac or Prescriptive, for the quality, and the color options. But I had an unexpected evening event to attend and needed to purchase foundation, not having worn any that day. I needed something in my color, which is a creamy milk chocolate brown with yellow undertones. I wanted something in sporty package and with a light texture. I found Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation. I nearly got their Cocoa color, which is a more accurate description of my color, but noticed from the store's color chart that Caramel (#3 of the Dark colors) would be a better match. It was! Not only that, the undertones were great. Overall, the color match, the water-based oil-free formula and the light texture were on point. And the sporty packaging made me feel like this is something I can carry with me. For me, the color match compared to the ethnic makeup brands, which I was glad about. It rivals Prescriptives brand, whose oil-free fdn is too watery and too intensely pigmented, leaving stains and is difficult to remove. The texture is creamy yet lite and non-oily. I was very impressed at their approach to color categories, as drugstore makeups tend to have tones of shades for "white" skin (porcelain to olive) and then group "everyone else" as a single "deep" or "dark" shade. What a crock! Escpecially considering that "dark" can mean everything from honey to cocoa to dark chocolate. Maybelline's variety of Dark shades shows me they're serious. Now, if only stores would sell the matching pressed powder. I can't seem to find it at Duane Reade, CVS or Rite Aids in Manhattan.
