Series 2 of McFarlane Toys, featuring Major League Baseball's best in 2002, simple has the most outstanding line-up of superstars this series of statues has ever presented. There are nine players in series 2, and the least worthy player even made the MLB All Star team this year! This series is the best and Greg Maddux's statue leads the McFarlane line up off.
I have come to enjoy the McFarlane statues, especially for baseball! Hockey and Football are a close second but being a fan of Major League Baseball and McFarlane Toys I appreciate the detail and the realism of of Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Greg Maddux and all of the McFarlane figures.
Maddux is dressed in his home uniform, the classic Atlanta Braves White, with red and blue piping and designs. Maddux is captured in a stance right before releasing a powerful pitch, more than likely his awesome sinking fastball, nipping the corners of home plate, working on a strike out. The finely crafted features include articulated arms and legs, realistic facial appearance, and authentic uniform styling complete with dirt stains. The number 31 and Maddux on the back of the jersey, completes this accurate, authentic figurine. The baseball stirrup socks are remarkable, in their detail. A plastic, pitching-mound base is included, providing the perfect spot to display the 6.5-inch-tall figure.
Packaging is excellent. The heavy duty plastic clam shell packaging is perfect for shipping or storage if one does not wish to display this wonderful toy.
Greg Maddux is a true hall of famer, and this McFarlane statue is a great way to immortalize your memories of his pitching. While he has played for other teams, his greatness was achieved with the Atlanta Braves. I was able to find this statue on-line for under $10. And the other eight in series 2?
The "weak sister" of the bunch of nine is Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood, a 2008 all star. Nomar is a Red Sox player but the others? Manny Ramirez, Roger Clemens, Barry *****,
A-Rod, Ken Griffey, Jr, and Derek Jeter. What a collection! And each comes with its own custom base!
