CoachB's Full Review: Medela Pump In Style Breast Pump
A friend loaned me her Medela Pump In Style double breast pump when I had my third child.
Prior to that I used a hand pump, an old model Medela double pump and the Evenflo double electric pump.
The Medela Pump In Style is so easy to use and comes in a nice compact case. It looks like a large black purse or briefcase. It's not much heavier than a purse. It's very quiet compared to the older model. The old model Medela that I rented with my second baby looked and sounded like a dinosaur compared to this model. It looked like a doctor's kit but stood out like a sore thumb because it was bright blue. The case was hard plastic and made the unit heavy. It didn't have a shoulder strap so you had to have a free hand to carry it. It was also very loud.
It was so nice to be able to pump both sides at once. I had so much milk that the Evenflo didn't have enough suction to do both sides at once so I had to do one at a time.
The Medela case has a compartment for milk storage. None of the previous units I used had this option.
It also comes with a battery pack. I never had the occasion to use it. My sister purchased this pump and she used the battery pack to pump in the restroom at the Denver airport.
This pump is like the Cadillac of pumps. I was tempted to buy my own but decided to wait. I will if I have another baby. It's well worth the money if you plan to pump for more than a couple weeks.
