What is a Medifast 70 Shake?

The Medifast 70 Shake is a premeasured shake mix in a white, paper packet that you add to water and shake; a gizmo like the ‘magic bullet’ is very effective for getting a well-blended, frothy shake. The purpose of the shake is for use in the Medifast diet plan as a meal replacement. When you order medifast shakes mixes what you received is a cute little box that includes 7 white packets of the shake mix you ordered. The mixing instructions are listed on the side of the box. The shakes contain 25 vitamins and minerals and 14 grams of protein, and they are low-lactose, soy based products. The shake mixes contain whey, are kosher dairy, vegetarian and caffeine free with the exception of Dutch Chocolate (2.25 mg) and Swiss Mocha (13.41 mg). By the ‘whey’, if you have dairy issues, the ready-to-drink shakes are lactose & whey free; however they flavors are limited to chocolate and vanilla and the price per container is quite high when you throw shipping/handling on top, but well worth avoiding the problems associated with dairy intolerance.


Are they any good?

The shakes are surprisingly quite good actually, especially if you add crushed ice and blend them. The shakes taste like their names imply and there are various sugar free flavor drops that you can add to them to create a mind-boggling array of palette pleasing additional flavors. For example, Dutch Chocolate plus peppermint drops; Strawberry Crème plus New York cheesecake drops; Banana Crème plus marshmellow drops. Yum! The list goes on and on. The variety of drops is incredible which allows your shake options to be varied and exciting instead of the same ole same ole day after day.

Does the plan work?

The Medifast 70 Shakes are really good. They are easy to make and easy to take with you even if you go on vacation. The six flavors are great alone or can provide you with a lot of variety if you purchase the flavor drops to add to them. The shakes are expensive as compared to other shake mixes that you can purchase.

As with any diet plan, results are never typical as far as the success stories go because typically dieters won’t stick to the plan as it’s laid out – this is true of any and all ‘diets’ not just Medifast.
