| jo.com's Full Review: Michelin Cross Terrain SUV Truck/SUV Tire |
After more than 68,000 miles that we put on in three years on our Toyota 4 Runner we were told we needed new tires. Considering how pleased we were with the Michelin Cross Terrain tires that were on the car and with the help of our mechanic we went with them again.
These tires are originally equipped on the Acura MDX, Ford Explorer and Lincoln Navigator 4 x 4 to name a few. They are designed for SUVs. Mine are 17 inches. My SUV is said to tow 5,000 pounds on Edmunds. However the information that came with the car says it can tow 7,000 pounds. We pull a trailer and even with the trailer behind us we got a lot of miles from the orginal Michelins. The wheelbase is 109.8 inches. The tires take approximately 38 pounds of air (according to my husband).
The claims:
Exceptional on road handling
Quiet ride
Superb responsiveness
They have a 65,000 mile warranty. This warranty is on defects not if you go over a nail!
The fact we went with these $220 tires (each) says how pleased we were with them. We have gone cross country; off-roading; hit sidewalks and drove up and down roads that looked scary while pulling the trailer. The tires were all that the claims said they should be.
The car handles really well with the Michelin Cross Terrain. We live in snow and ice country. I can get up hills with out any problems. The tires hold the road really well.
They are obviously very durable.
The tires dont make any noise. A silica tread compound and tread design is used to help with wet braking and the reason for the low noise. The tires have large cables and steel belts that give them strength.
These are great tires and Im confident they will take us cross country again in May!
