| biggiekev's Full Review: Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 Passenger/Performance Tire |
My last car was a VW Passat GLX that I bought a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's for... and they were great tires - so when I moved to a 2004 Acura RSX my thought would be that it had Michelin Pilots - no brainer for tires.
Turns out "no brains" was right. After driving the car for a short while I realized that these tires were probably the worst tires I've ever experienced on any car, rentals included.
People look... but only because the tires will squeal at any movement, no matter how slow. Turn the wheel - squeal. Drive normally from a stop sign - squeal. Drive into a drive where the tire has to negotiate a curb - squeal.
I actually have to be conscience of my driving in parking lots because people think I'm gunning my car when I'm just making a simple turn.
Dry traction is "ok" unless your negotiating a highway ramp... the push is horrible - it feels like the car is not going to turn.
Wet traction, even in a light rain, is squirrly at best.
Michelin should be ashamed to put their name on these things and it's hard to believe that Acura isn't getting some kind of deal to take these off of their hands.
It's a shame when a car has only 10,000 miles on it and you're already thinking of replacing the tires.
