Pros: No uncomfortable side effects, works pretty fast, covers all the bases.
Cons: Could last longer, symptoms return quickly and just as bad until you take it again.
The Bottom Line: Midol is a necessity. It's cheap and works fast.

| firefly_rock's Full Review: Midol Maximum Strength 80 Caplets Menstrual Formul... |
The entire week of my period used to be spent indoors, lounging around and watching TV [in my sweats with an ancient hotpack and huge bowl of ice cream]. Until Midol came along. Midol leaves no side effect of your period "un-cured." The laziness and lethargy have disappeared, along with my cramps and :cringe: ..bloat. [As for the huge bowl of ice cream... I'm not really in the market for finding a solution to that one, if you know what I mean].
I highly disagree with anyone who ever dares to say that "Midol doesn't accomplish anything Advil or Tylenol can't." Ibuprofen & Acetaminophen are simply pain relievers- and only complete a third of what Midol has to offer.
Pain
Headache? Back pain? Cramps? Midol shells out 500mg of Acetaminophen in each pill, equal to about 2 normal-dose Tylenol pills.
But what does it all mean, Danielle?
It means awesome, unrelenting pain relief for up to 6 hours. Cramps completely stop within 30 minutes, my pounding headache fizzles away to nothing and well, for back pain- I never really have back pain, but I'm sure it works just as well for that. As far as my experience goes, I've had to take 1 pill [sometimes 2] right around every 6 hours, because the symptoms will return full-fledged otherwise.
Bloating
It makes you want to spend your entire paycheck on sweat pants and huge, oversized t-shirts. Have no fear, pyrilamine maleate is here!
That is, the diuertic found in Midol; 15 mg in each pill.
That's right, pee out all that unwanted water weight gain!! As effective as it is unattractive to think about, the PM found in Midol works like a charm for me. I've never even found that I make an obnoxious amount of trips to the bathroom- which is always a plus. What good is ridding yourself of bloat if you're going to be spending the better part of girls' night out in the restroom?
Fatigue
"I don't wanna," "Not today," "Maybe later."
:Enter Midol:
"Let's go!" "Hurry up!" "Tired? What a baby!"
Get the picture?
Midol contains 60mg of caffeine in each pill, or about the same amount found a 5 oz. cup of weak to moderately strong coffee. It's just enough to get you going, and the feel-goodness of NOT rotting on the couch for days is enough to keep you going. I've never experienced a headache, dizziness, shaking, tingling, nausea, or any other uncomfortable side effects to the caffeine.
Sum it up.
All in all, Midol is a great way for any girl to live life normally during her period. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to even my best friend. It tackles all the discomforts associated with menstruation- all the pain, cramps, water retention, tiredness. The only complaint I gave about this pill is that I wish they'd come out with am extended relief Midol or something, because taking it every few hours can get a little tedious, especially when missing a dose means the difference between a good day and a ... well, you know [and if you don't, just ask my boyfriend].
