Pros: Great Price, perfect beginner mountain bike, excellent parts.
Cons: Seat post too long for people with shorter legs, tighten all parts before riding.
The Bottom Line: The best bike for the money, but make sure to have your tools ready to tighten up the loose bolts from the Wally world bike assembler before riding.

| mongoose_xr100's Full Review: Mongoose Aluminum Mountain Bike XR-100 |
My wife and I wanted to start biking on hiking and bike trails near our home. But my faithful and solid GT Pro-freestyle tour BMX bike was a bit out of my age range now and my wife did not want to be seen with me riding my BMX on the local trails or in public. So I started doing some research on trail and mountain bikes. After over a year of shopping for the bikes that would fit our needs we found that the bikes in the local bikes shops were excellent but really pricey. We set aside a budget to purchase bikes for the both of us under $300. Being an experienced BMXer amatuer champion in my teens, I knew that GT, Redline, Schwinn, HARO, and Mongoose were great bikes. In college alot of my buddies had TREK and cannondales. But these bikes cost them fortunes and if they were stolen it would be such a great losts. After completing our research of the types of adult bikes in the marketplace we decided to get mountain bikes. Schwinn and Mongoose were the two bike manufacturers that had bikes in our budget but Mongoose was found cheaper in the local bike stores and even cheaper at Wal-Mart. Additionally, the Mongoose bikes all had full-suspension. The local bike shop near us was selling the XR--100 Mongoose for double the price but was tuned for riding immediately. Since I was an expert at bike repair and not to mention a master weilder and mechanic getting the bikes at Wally world would be a better choice for the both of us. You better get this bike soon or you will miss out on a great deal.
