Pros: Faster than regular Monopoly, teaches basic math skills.
Cons: Can take a while to finish the game, younger kids lose interest.
The Bottom Line: Great game and learning possibilities, but for families with small children there are many small parts that are choking possibilities.

| bmryan's Full Review: Monopoly Jr. |
Open a ticket booth, charge for rides, monopolize the area and you're rich! I acquire a lot of games from yard sales and its worth it. My son now has the top of his closet full of games. I homeschool and games are a good break activity and a good start to the day.
Monopoly Jr is becomming part of the regular circulation of games that my son now plays. The game comes in a square box which includes a board that folds in half to fit into the box, Monopoly brand money (many 1's, 2's, and 3's and fewer 4's and 5's), deck of 24 chance cards, four different color (red, blue, yellow, and green) plastic cars, 48 plastic ticket booths (12 of each color.)
Each player picks what color car they want to be and takes 12 of their color ticket booths. They place their car on the "GO" space to start. The chance cards are placed on the chance spot in the center of the board. One player must be the banker who is in charge of the money and gives each player 5- $1's, 4- $2's, 3- $3's, and 1 each of the $4 and $5. They roll the die and the player with the highest number goes first.
Each player in turn rolls the die and follows the directions on the space they land on. If the player lands on a chance space they take a chance card and follow those directions. The chance cards consist of: free ticket booth cards which you place a ticket booth on the color space it tells you to, if both are empty you pick which one, if they are both taken you move the ticket booth of one of the other players and put yours there unless they have the monopoly in which case you can not move any, ride on the railroad cards where you move to the specified railroad and roll again, go to the Fireworks or Water Show space and pay Uncle Pennybags the $2, and a go to "GO" and collect $2 as you pass. If the player lands on a ride space they pay the bank the specified amount the first time and place a ticket boot on it. If there is already a ticket booth on the space the player must pay the ticket booth owner the amount owed and if they have both of the same color spaces they must pay double the amount shown. If the player lands on any of the railroads they roll again. If the player lands on the Fireworks or Water Show space they pay Uncle Pennybags $2. If they land on the rest room space by roll of the die they just wait until there next turn. If they land on Rich Uncle Pennybags Loose Change space they get all the money sitting there. If they land on Pay $3 to take the tramway to the rest rooms they must do that. Every time you pas GO you get $2 from the banker but must ask for it because if you forget you don't get it.
The first time we played this game my son thought it was taking too long for one of us to run out of money and became bored. This game teaches basic math and money skills and some business sense. This is a great game for the specified 5-8 age group and can litterally provide hours of fun
