| kiferm's Full Review: Motorola Timeport P8167 Cell Phone |
Dual
I have had cell coverage for what seems like forever, I am extremely committed to my provider. In the past two years I have had only two cell providers, Bell Atlantic (Verizon) and Sprint. I review those as well.
Now on to the StarTec, I love this phone!
I can sync it up with outlook, and with the abuse I give my phones this is important over the past two years that I have had this phone, I am on my 5th. I will describe how each one met their demises this might change your opinion but I have held fast to mine.
1. I broke the antenna. The little black antenna will break fairly easily. Mine broke because of where I kept it on my belt in relation to my seatbelt.
2. Since I wear my cell phone as a fashion accessory, yes even with leather or the kilt. One day at work, I watched my poor little phone slide into the toilet.
3. While roller balding I fell on it. I tried to get out of the way but I was to late.
4. During a party a friend at work got upset that I didn’t find her attractive, I like boys, so she threw my phone into the fountain, it worked after being retrieved, the first time, but the next time it didn’t.
5. So far so good. Wish it luck.
Water bad…
A few months ago I spoke to a person that worked on the interface design team and the issues I had with the phone are partly because of Motorola internal issues.
The phone lacks a clear and easy interface, I have had to call sprint several times to get help to change some of the basic features of this phone. Like that stupid annoying light blinking, or when I thought I would be cool and help myself save mins by having the min reminder turned on… that lasted two weeks, well it would have been less if I could have figured out on my own how to turn it off.
I love the mic, I can hold to conversations, and people on the phone don’t know about the other one, back ground noise is kept to a min because of this. The flip insure I do not call strange people at strange time. I can not tell you how many times I have gotten a call phone a friend that owners a nokia. I do love listen to their car radios, their conversations at Aqua, or the dance music at Universe.
I leave the message reminder on to let me know I have a voice mail or I will forget, though it is a double edge sword.
The vibration on this phone is not a vibration, it’s like a Rictor 1 earthquake. I used to have the black startec and it had a calm vibrate this one will shake you and the whole conference room. Which is bad.
So my recommendation to Motorola on fixing this phone is.
1. Vibrate with style; I want myself and only myself to hear it. I am not trying to have an orgasm here.
2. Make the menus easier to navigate, hire a GUI designer.
3. Better control over the alerts would be nice, when I get a VM at 5am from the east coast I don’t want to hear about it for the next 5 hours.
4. a little thinner would be nice, and some color on that screen.
With phone number 5 I got the slim battery. I love having both the slim battery and the Standard long life battery. The slim batter works well when I have baggy pants on and I still want to have a phone but not look like I have a phone.
