| eddyrt's Full Review: Motorola V2397 Cell Phone |
The Motorola V2397 is a good, dependable phone for the money. It will send and receive short text messages, has a 99 number phone book, memories for calls received & dialed, and more.
Over a year ago, I signed up with AT&T Wireless and bought a Talkabout T2297 phone. I became interested in Text Messaging - Short Messaging Service and learned about the V2397. Menus are easy to learn; some basic functions are the same as the old Motorola bag phones.
I have had my V2397 since March, 2001. It has over 6000 minutes of use, and has been accidentally dropped, scratched, stepped on, and kicked...and still works fine. The V2397 has larger keys to accommodate the optional colored overwrap covers. The larger keys are very helpful for those with larger fingers and/or arthritis, if the overwrap cover is left off.
The headset jack is good, because it will accept any 2.5mm phone plug.
The phone uses three extended-length AAA nickel metal hydride batteries. These are about 1/4-inch longer than a standard AAA battery. There are no other battery choices available. Either the AC charger or the optional 12-volt charger cord can be used while talking.
My only complaints have to do with the recessed display. Depending on the ambient light, the characters on the left side of the display can be difficult to see, unless it is briefly turned upside-down. Text message type size is very small. It might be helpful if the phone allowed the user to select two different type sizes.
