| KMINER's Full Review: Nabisco Teddy Grahams, Cinnamon, 10 Oz Boxes (Pack... |
Having 3 children ages 8, 2, and 1 we are bound to always have some snacks in the house. I never thought to try Teddy Grahams until the older two children got a package of them in a "kid's meal" while we were out to eat one night. They loved them and asked if they were sold in stores ... and thankfully they are!
Though Teddy Grahams come in a variety of flavors, my children tried and liked the Cinnamon flavor, which I never would have thought to try either. They come in a 10 oz red box with "teddy" picture and logo. The actual grahams are also pictured on the box, leaving no question what you are purchasing. The product are small, bite sized "graham" cracker flavored pressed bears (as if someone took graham crackers and, instead of leaving them pressed flat, they were smooshed into a teddy bear mold).
There are about 9 servings in the box, and each serving has 130 calories, 4 grams of fat, and 1 gram of fiber. The box claims they are made with whole grain, 10% of your daily calcium, and 4% of your daily iron.
The Nabisco Teddy Grahams, Cinnamon come out of the box as small, bite sized snacks. They are easy to eat and easy to hold. Since they are a molded bear you can eat one in 1-2 bites. We don't notice any crumbs or messes, the way you can get with graham crackers. Also since these are so solid they don't get as mushy as a typical graham cracker.
Our kids eat these both as a snack and with a meal. I'd say about once a week they all have a handful of Cinnamon Teddy Grahams. They are very portable and so we often take them when going on an outing and need a snack for the girls. They work great in restaurants because they are easy to pull out and don't leave a mess. Also my 2 year old daughter often likes to pretend they are her "babies" (okay, babies she eventually eats!) and talk to them and walk them around her plate. Most of the time it's pretty cute, though I don't usually give her these treats when we are in a rush to eat knowing she often does this.
They are fairly sweet and with just a hint of cinnamon. They really do taste good, and I was surprised about that. We've tried some of the other flavors of the Teddy Grahams (even chocolate ones!) and still the kids tell me they like these the best!
I think taking a typical product like a graham cracker and making it more "child friendly" is a great idea. My kids get a tasty treat, and they have some fun in the process. They've spent time counting and sorting the bears as well, which I've found not only keeps them occupied but gives good reinforcement to some skills being taught. Since they are in a bear shaped they could easily be used in some preschool and other classroom situations or in food decorating needs.
All in all we think Cinnamon Teddy Grahams make a good snack!
