My husband says I have a "shoe fetish", and when I buy a new pair of shoes, I always get that another paircomment from him. When I purchased these Naturalizer shoes he didn't mind, because I was purchasing them to wear to our daughters wedding.
She got married in the Dallas Arboretum, and we knew we would be doing a lot of walking through the gardens. A comfortable pair of shoes were a must, even he agreed on that.
The wedding was in June, in Texas, and we knew it would be very hot. I wanted an elegant pair of shoes that were comfortable, yet would help my feet to remain cool. You might be surprised to hear that I wore black to my daughters wedding, but black is now the new wedding color and is very much accepted. They even make bridesmaids dresses in black these days. Only my long skirt was black, the top and matching sweater were a bright aqua color, made of a loosely crocheted fabric that I purchased at Nordstrom.
Back to the shoes. These shoes are indeed elegant looking! The outside has one strap coming up from the sole, while the inside has two straps which meet in a gentle knot at the top center of the shoe. The end of the "bow" lays gently over the larger strap on the outside.
The upper portion is made of a very soft and supple leather, and the sole is constructed of man made materials. These have a heel that measures just over 2" tall, but the heel, while not being a narrow skinny style, is also not clunky and ugly. It provides a lot of stability and comfort to this shoe, which I refer to as a sandal.
I have not been one bit disappointed in these shoes, and now I wear them regularly to church with dress pants. The foot bed is lightly cushioned through the ball of the foot, but the stitching where this cushioned insert ends is flat and doesn't bother my feet like some stitching in shoes tends to do.
This style runs a little big. I normally wear a size 7, but I take this one in a 6 1/2 and it fits me perfectly. The day of our daughters wedding we did a LOT of walking. The garden were our wedding took place was quite a long walk from the entrance to the Arboretum. While the bride and bridesmaids were ushered around in small golf carts, the rest of the attendants ended up walking. It was a hot humid day, and I was very pleased with the comfort, coolness, and style these shoes gave me.
Naturalizer is a great company, and I don't think I have ever owned a Naturalizer shoe that was not comfortable. I love the feminine look of this shoe, especially the graceful knot and bow on the top. These are one of my favorite pair of shoes, and I even wear them in the winter months. The sole is made out of a slip resistant material that gives me good traction on the snow. They don't keep my feet warm, but I usually throw a pair of boots in the car with me, and if need be I can put them on and carry my shoes along with me when I get out of the car.
I highly recommend this shoe if you can find it! I think I only paid about $40 for these at Gottschalk's. A great buy.
