LisaDo's Full Review: Natures Miracle Natures Miracle Stain and Odor Rem...
I was ticked. A dog that we no longer have, Roxy*, was using our carpet for a toilet. It wasn't that she wasn't housebroken, because she was. It was what she would do when she got mad at us. We would take her out before we left, but if she wanted to go, and we didn't take her, she would go potty on the carpet. Not even the linoleum, it HAD to be the carpet. In every room of the house. We were gone less than 15 minutes one time, but we had to go home to get something we had forgotten, and she had already gone in the floor even though she had just gone outside before we left. Needless to say, before long, our house stunk no matter what we did to clean the mess.
Disgusted, I asked a friend, MaryTara, what she used. She said that when her dogs had accidents, she used Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover. She said that it really worked and that I should try it. I checked at Wal-Mart, but they didn't have it, so I went to PetSmart. I couldn't find it, so I asked an employee where it was and he showed me. Sure enough they had it in several sizes. Even he recommended it highly. I went ahead and grabbed the 1 gallon size bottle.
The Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover comes in an all white bottle with red and black lettering on it. The bright red cap is child resistant, so you have to push down and turn to open it. There is also a foil cover under it when you purchase the bottle. The Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover is a clear liquid, looking a lot like water. The smell, however, reminds me a little bit of rubbing alcohol.
The first couple of times I used the Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover I honestly couldn't tell if it was working or not. We live in military housing and this ugly, mud brown, carpet has seen better days. I could SMELL the Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover, but other than leaving the carpet wet, I couldn't tell if it was doing much. Within a few days, especially after Roxy was gone, the house smelled a lot better! It no longer smelled like a toilet!
It did take several days before the smell was totally gone, though, so don't expect a complete miracle. According to the directions, you should saturate the carpet, enough to get to the pad and the floor. Lifting the carpet and pouring it directly on the pad, if possible. It wasn't possible in our case, so I just soaked the carpet. it took almost two days just to dry. Luckily it was winter, so the furnace helped out with the drying part or it might have taken longer.
Our bottle of Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover sat unused for a long time with our other cleaners. Then one morning our son decided to climb in bed with me. I was ok with that. Daddy wasn't home and it was something he often did. When we got up some time later, I found that he had soaked thru his diaper and clothes. The huge wet spot on the fitted sheet was a major indicator of how much "damage" his DIRTY diaper had done.
I stripped the bed to find a large, light brown spot in the center of our white mattress. Our mattress is less than 3 years old, so I was a little unhappy when, after scrubbing it, the stain, and the odor, was still there. I hunted thru my cleaners hoping to Fabreeze the smell away, and live with the stain, when I saw the bottle of Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover. I figured since it worked on the carpets with doggy messes, it should work for Zacky messes, too!
Following the directions, I shook the bottle. I was bad and didn't test for color-fastness, but the mattress is white. Figured it couldn't do any more damage than the large brown ring I already had. Even though it says to use Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover first because other cleaners can actually "set" the stain, I hoped it would work.
With a little prayer, I gently poured the Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover onto the spot. This product should NOT be diluted. Using a wash cloth, I scrubbed at the spot for several minutes. My mattress had taken a slightly yellow-ish cast. Defeated, I put the cleaner away, turned on the ceiling fan to help it dry, and left the room.
A couple of hours later, I went back into my bedroom with the clean sheets. I wanted to see if the mattress was dry. It was! Not only that but it was white again! The yellow-ish hue was due to it being wet. The stain was completely gone! I stuck my nose into my mattress, wanting to see if it stunk or not since the room smelled a little like alcohol, and it didn't stink at all! Apparently since the area was "fresh", it didn't have time to set and stay. The Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover got the spot out!
The most recent time I used it was yesterday morning. My son decided he was thirsty and his cup was empty. Rather than just bring me the empty cup, he managed to climb into the refrigerator and get the one open Coke in it. Top shelf, even. Somehow he got it down, without spilling it, and brought it into my room. He sat it on the bed, also sitting his cup on the bed near my pillow, and turned to leave. I rolled over in time to see him running from the bedroom. Shaking my head at the empty cup, I rolled over. Very shortly after I started feeling something wet. The dog can't get in the bed because she is to short. Zack wasn't in the room and the cat was eating. Either I was wetting the bed or something funky was going on!
I jumped from the bed, tossing the covers to the side. I looked down and sure enough there was a large, wet spot on the sheet. My night clothes were soaked in the middle. I still had to use the restroom, so it couldn't have been me. I moved the covers aside and that was when I found the empty Coke can. It had been 3/4 full.
After stripping the bed, I went right for the Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover. While Coke isn't exactly what I would call an "organic" stain, I decided to try it anyway. Once again, I dumped it straight from the bottle onto my mattress. Using a washcloth, I scrubbed at the mattress and the light brown stain. When my arm was tired, I looked at where the stain had been. Sure enough, there was a yellow cast to the area. I turned on the ceiling fan and left the room. When I went back a few hours later, the Coke was gone and our mattress was white once again.
While I wasn't expecting a miracle, with the damage that was done, especially to my carpet, that is what I feel I got. True, I can't see the pad to see if the stain is still in my carpet, but it worked great on my mattress. The stains and odors are gone. With the carpet, the odor was gone, and that was my main concern.
Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover is easy to use. You can use it straight for stains, or add it to your carpet cleaner, 50/50 with cold water, to do a general surface clean on your carpet. You can use it to clean cat boxes, dog runs, or any other pet living area, including bird cages. Just make sure that anything you clean with the Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover is dry before you re-introduce your pet.
My one gallon bottle has gone a long way. You can bet, however, that when I get low I will be making a trip to PetSmart for another bottle! At the time I thought it was expensive, but after seeing it in action, I have no problem paying the price for another bottle!
"Non-toxic, non-flammable, non-caustic, and non-Acidic. Safe for use around children and pets, on colors, and on all water-safe surfaces."
* - Footnoted to add that we no longer have Roxy because our son was afraid of her and not because of the issue I mentioned. In my opinion, you shouldn't get rid of an animal just because of a behavioral problem. They can be adjusted with time and training.
