Bijou's Full Review: Neat Solutions Sesame Street Biodegradable Table T...
Recently, my husband and I were shopping in Toys R Us, just browsing for items when I spotted a now-staple in my diaper bag: Neat Solutions Biodegradable Table Topper Disposable Stick-On Placemats. My son, Timothy, is now 13 months old and an avid "table food" junkie--he loves eating "grown up" food and has been joining us at our local IHOP for breakfast goodies. I knew that this wonderful product that protects my son from germs on the table would come in handy--and I was right! It is my favorite baby innovation right now, and I would recommend it to any parent who is pulling up the ubiquitious high-chair to the table.
The Neat Solutions Table Topper Stick-On Placemat prevents my son from touching the germ-laden table tops in restaurants. Even after a wiping down, tables can harbor a host of bacteria. My son sucks on his thumb and then grabs food off of the table--the last thing I want him to ingest with his yummy pancakes is a petri dish of nasty germs. Enter the stick-on placemat! It is a generous size that covers the entire end of the table, where he would be putting his hands or food. On each long end of the rectangle, there is a repositionable adhesive that allows for the mat to be placed where you need it. If, like me, you put the mat on the table and it "wrinkles" up, simply lift the adhesive tape off of the table, smooth out the mat, and readhere it to the table surface. The adhesive does not leave a residue on the table top, nor does it mar its surface. Even with my little guy pushing or pulling on the mat, it stays in place and does not peel away from the table.
The Table Topper design I purchased features some of Timothy's favorite Sesame Street characters, such as Elmo, Zoe, Cookie Monster, and Grover. Bold colors and cute phrases like "Elmo is Playful" definitely catch Timothy's attention before his food arrives. Table Toppers come in other designs as well, such as Dora the Explorer, Baby Einstein, and Winnie the Pooh. All of the designs are graphic, colorful, and interesting. Yet the best part of this wonderful mat is that it keeps my baby's food sanitary.
With all of the worries about plastic and babies' exposure to it, you do not have to fret if you purchase the plastic Table Topper place mats. Every mat is BPA-Free, PVC-Free, and phthalate-Free--so I know that if my son is putting food into his mouth, he won't be ingesting any unwanted chemicals as well. Who would have thought that a portable, easy-to-use mat could provide such peace of mind?
For those eco-minded parents, this biodegradable place mat is an excellent choice for both your baby and the environment. Anything that allows me to care for the enviornment while tending to my child gets an endorsement from me.
I spent $8.99 on the 18-count Table Toppers, and after using them successfully for several restaurant visits, I wish I had purchased more of them. They are disposable, easy to tote to the restaurant, a "green" choice for the environment, and a perfect way to keep my baby's food and fingers free from germs. Personally, I feel that Neat Solutions Table Topper Disposable Stick-On Placemats are a must-have staple for every diaper bag. You can find this wunder-product in Target, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, and Walmart. For more information, check out the website: http://www.tabletopper.com
