I owned a 6160, which was stolen, then I purchased a 6162 (flip-cover). Both are excellent phones, identical in functionality, size and weight. In fact, the only difference is that the 6162 has the flip cover whereas the 6160 does not.
Both phones are small, light weight, have long battery life, and sturdy. The reason I didn't get a Startac is because my fear is it would be fragile. The 6100 series is very sturdy. The phones have easy to press buttons and are easy to navigate to find the desired features. I purchased a vibrating battery so I can turn the ringer off during meetings and still be notified when a call comes in, or if it's noisy outside and I need to receive a call, I know I won't miss it.
I FIND THE FLIP-COVER EXTREMELY CONVENIENT. Primarily because opening the flip-cover automatically performs two actions: 1) it turns the display light on and 2) it answers the phone (if a call is coming in)...it is particularly handy if you are driving or if it is dark outside.
