| jade_lily's Full Review: One A Day One-A-Day Weight Smart Dietary Supplemen... |
I wanted to try one a day weight smart, I thought that I was doing a good thing. I didnt really take vitamins and I wanted to lose weight. I thought that taking vitamins that promoted to maintain weight by enhancing you metabolism (this hasn't been evaluated by the FDA) that I would get better results. I looked at the back of the box to see all of the vitamins it covered, and thought, well it covers a lot of vitamins and has green tea extract I will try it and I bought a 50 tablet bottle.
About the vitamins :
Here is the supplemental information found on the back of the bottle and on the box:
Vitamin A (100% as beta carotene) 2500 IU 50%
Vitamin C 60 mg 100%
Vitamin D 400 IU 100%
Vitamin E 30 IU 100%
Vitamin K 80 mcg 100%
Thiamin (B1) 1.9 mg 127%
Riboflavin (B2) 2.125 mg 125%
Niacin 25 mg125%
Vitamin B6 2.5 mg 125%
Folic Acid 400 mcg 100%
Vitamin B12 7.5 mcg 125%
Pantothenic Acid 12.5 mg 125%
Calcium (elemental) 300 mg 30%
Iron 18 mg 100%
Magnesium 50 mg 12%
Zinc 15 mg 100%
Selenium 70 mcg 100%
Copper 2 mg 100%
Manganese 2 mg 100%
Chromium 133 mcg 111%
EGCG (From Green Tea Extract, Camellia sinensis leaf) 32 mg (no % value because it hasnt been evaluated by the FDA)
I bought my vitamins before the changes the formula to include a total of 200 mcg of Chromium bring it to 167%. It says on their site that the increase intake of Chromium is to help absorption of the B vitamins (what I call energy vitamins). These vitamins claim that it boosts you metabolism and gives you key vitamins and minerals needed. The box did include a sample menu (at the time) for a week.
The directions are to take one tablet daily with food. People who are pregnant or breast feeding are to consult a physician before taking these vitamins. These vitamins are not for children without a physicians approval due to the high amount of iron-containing ingredients. The high amounts of iron ingredients can cause fatal poisoning in children under 6.
These vitamins are to help you control you weight with a healthy diet and exercise. Depending with how many calories you consume and how many you burn will determine of you will lose weight with these vitamins or maintain your current weight.
What were my results?
I did end up losing weight with these vitamins, but in the worst way possible. I was constantly throwing up the vitamins. It didnt matter if I took them with or without food, or even if I just took them with water or milk. I had a friend try them, and she got sick as well. We couldnt figure it out. I stop taking the vitamins after four days. It wasnt until I went to a nutritionist a year later that she told me that if the ingredients arent balanced just right, some peoples bodies will reject some vitamins because instead of working together, some ingredients will fight each other. I never had time to call the company and actually make a formal complaint. After visiting their site to get information about my husbands vitamins, I did see that they did change their formula to incorporate more chromium. I wonder if this is attributed to a miss balance in the vitamins.
I am sure there are some people whose bodies will do fine with these vitamins. I have been told by several doctors that my body is a little more sensitive to certain vitamins. However, my friend who is a person who takes vitamins and several supplements a day got sick just taking these alone. I would't recommend anyone to s=change to these vitamins or take them after my experience.
