Some of us are just not blessed with perfect skin. I have to admit that I am one of those people. I'm in my twenties and still have that occasional outbreak on my face. I am actually better off now, than when I was a teenager because I suffered from terrible acne problems.
Looking back, I realize that Oxy products have been my saving grace, especially these cleansing pads. I can always count on these pads removing the dirt on my face, to prevent any more outbreaks. These Oxy Balance Deep Pore Cleansing Pads come in a small white plastic container, containing 55 pads, with a screw on plastic cap.
Oxy Balance deep pore cleansing pads are a 0.5% salicyclic acid acne medication. When your pores are clogged up, oxygen cannot get in, so they become like a breeding ground for bacteria. Sounds disgusting right?
These pads are made for the medicine to work deep inside of the pores, which is where the pimples actually originate. These pads work to unclog pores of dirt and oil, and let oxygen in, to prevent the pimples from appearing again and again...and again and again...
How can I keep my acne under control?
Here are a few things that I find help me control an outbreak!
~ DO NOT POP! Even I had this habit once. But popping a pimple just spreads the inflammation around your face. You can also damage tissue under your skin.
~ Wash your hair regularly and keep away from you face. Hair is naturally oily. You don't want to transfer that oil from your hair to your face.
~ Also keep your hands away from your face. Throughout the day, your fingers pick up loads of dirt and bacteria. Putting dirty fingers to your face will clog those pores!
~ Wash daily makeup off your face before going to bed. No use clogging pores with makeup when there is enough bacteria out there just waiting for your face to come by.
~ RELAX! Stress can get your hormones working in overdrive. Easier said than done, I know.
~ Stay sunburn free. Sunburn can cause your sebaceous glands, skin's oil glands, to work in overtime. And you DO pay for it. Trust me, I used to live in Florida, I know all about it.
~ Have a regular skin care regimen. Cleaning your face daily can reduce the amount of buildup in your pores. I recommend using Oxy Cleansing Pads to remove any makeup and dirt visible on your skin and then washing your face with a cleanser. This works wonders for me!
~ Only use skin care products that are noncomedogenic (I'm still guilty of not doing this). These kinds of products do not cause whiteheads or blackheads.
~ Stay away from hot, humid conditions
~ Eat a regular, healthy, balanced diet (lots of fruits and vegetables).
~ Directions ~
OXY gives you some instructions to follow on the bottle, but their instructions are geared toward's using the product only on pimples that have already cropped up:
Cleanse skin thoroughly before applying.
Recommend usage for this product is 1-3 times daily. Only using once a day if your skin begins to dry out. Oxy recommends that you start with once a day, gradually increasing to 2-3 times a day if needed, and no irritation occurs.
~ Ingredients ~
Inactive Ingredients:
alcohol
isoceteth-20
polyolprepolymer-15
triethanolamine
trisodium EDTA (chelating agent)
water
~ Warnings ~
Completely common sense warnings that everyone should know: for external use only, and keep out of childrens reach. And I have to ask again, what other kind of use would you use this for besides external? Am I incredibly naïve? Or do I just not have a sick mind?
Oxy states that using other kinds of topical acne drugs at the same time could cause increased irritation or dryness of the skin. And that you should keep this product away from your eyes, lips, and mouth. Darn, I cant suck the alcohol off!?
~*~ My Thoughts ~*~
I do not use Oxy Balance cleansing pads in the manner directed. I use this product (once daily) almost every night, to remove any makeup and dirt that has accumulated on my face during the day.
I have been cursed! I am one of those people that if I leave my make-up (what little I wear) on overnight, gets a visit from the pimple fairy while asleep. This is not a good thing. Especially since those are the only instances where I do acquire pimples. By using this product daily to remove dirt and make-up from my face, I have found that I get a lot less pimples and my face feels a whole lot cleaner. The cleansing pads are also soft, not hard and rough on your skin.
The only drawback that I can find with these cleansing pads is their medicinal smell and how moist they are. I dont like feeling like I am being washed in an alcohol pad, so I must wring the pad out a little before I use it.
Also, with working in a hospital, I get to smell that kind of stench all day. I dont want to smell it when I go home also. But it usually goes away after a minute or so, and I must wash my hands thoroughly after using, so the smell doesn't linger.
You should always keep the container tightly closed to prevent drying out of the cleansing pads, and store this product at room temperature
away from heat.
You can pretty much find these Oxy pads in any drugstore or grocery store. I usually purchase them on sale at Target, Drugstore.com, or CVS.com. I have paid everywhere from $2.49-3.49 for these pads, but often catch them on sale and use a coupon. But I think I have even bought them at regular price because they are so effective in ridding my face of any dirt.
