| theproductguy's Full Review: PNY Verto GeForce2 MX200, (32 MB) AGP Video Card |
The Verto GeForce2 MX200 is an amazing video card! It produces spectacularly realistic, accurate graphics, for a fraction of what other video cards cost. Even the worst designed graphics look great with this card.
Product specifics:
Included is one NVIDIA 2D/3D video card, packed with features designed to produce stunning graphic visuals. This card includes four memory chips, each individual memory chip contains 8 MB of PNY's High-Speed SDRAM memory (for a total of 32 MB, with an incredible 1.3 GB per second bandwidth!). Also included are integrated transform and lighting engines, which work to provide a more powerful and balanced PC platform (by offloading intense graphics from the computers CPU to the video card instead).
This video card is designed for IBM computers, and can be used with Windows XP, ME, 2000, 98, 95, NT 4.0, or Linux. Its also completely compatible with all of todays powerful applications, and 3D rendering games. This includes all software running under DirectX, OpenGL, Direct3D, DirectDraw, DirectVideo, and ActiveX drivers.
- The GeForce2 can perform at a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 @75Hz.
- And this video card also has a lifetime replacement guarantee!
Minimum computer requirements:
This video card will operate on any Intel Pentium II, AMD K6-2 class processor or higher. Available in a PCI or AGP version. The drivers are included on a CD, and when installed take approximately 10 MB of hard drive space.
Installation and upgrade notes:
Installation is a breeze. You simply remove the computers case, locate an empty PCI or AGP slot (depending on which card version you purchased) on your computers motherboard. Then remove the one (and only) securing screw from that slot, slide the card into the empty slot, secure it in place with the one screw. And your done! The only tool needed for this installation is a screwdriver (to open and close the case, and to secure the card in place).
Upgrade Warning:
When installing this card as an upgrade, into any computer with an integrated video card (for example: the Compaq Presario 5716). You may need to remove, or switch a small jumper setting on your motherboard to disable the existing integrated video card. This will prevent any video conflicts between the old and new video card. Documentation should be available for your computers specifics at its manufacturers support website.
Personal observations:
Right out of the box I noticed how nicely designed this video card is. The GeForce2 chipset includes an integrated heatsink that will help keep this card cool, and running efficiently. I also find it great that PNY offers drivers and driver updates for free at their website.
This card works GREAT with Blizzard's WarCraft III game! I purchased and tested one other 32 MB video card (an ATI Radeon) before returning it for this great card. The Radeon simply wouldn't display ANY 3D scenes (I saw a lot of scene "lines" and "polygon popping" instead of the actual characters and pictures in the game). The GeForce2 also displays DVD movies more clear, and vibrantly, than the Radeon in my opinion. But, I guess thats only to be expected by an Award Winning video card company! :)
Final note:
I purchased this card as an upgrade for my Compaq Presario 5716. And I could not be more pleased with the incredible video card I got for only a few dollars.
