Pros: No glare, Flat screen, Sharp!
Cons: Tiny lines in screen, difficult to adjust position
The Bottom Line: If you are in the market for something this expensive, the Sony Trinitron is a great catch that is as easy on the eyes as it is to use.

| mstrknowitall's Full Review: IBM P 275 21 inch CRT Monitor |
While I was in the market for a new PC, I stumbled upon Dell's offer for a 'free 19" flat screen monitor', and decided to give it a go. Since I am a part-time graphic designer, I could always use the extra desktop room.
The first thing that I noticed about it was that there wasn't a giant reflection of my office window in the screen - VERY nice. I don't know how they did it, but Sony somehow made all of the reflections a real dark blue/green, and you can't really see them unless your monitor is off.
Once I got it up and running - which was a piece of cake because it is completely plug & play - I immediately put my resolution to 1900x1600. WOW. I can't read a thing. The icons are smaller than a dime. Once I opened up Photoshop, however, it all started to make sense. I have so much room now that I can open all of the windows at once, and not have to hunt for things that I need anymore. After a couple of weeks, I started to get used to the size of everything, so 1900 is the only resolution that I use anymore. It isn't mandatory to use these settings, I just find it easier to work with more available space on the screen.
I can only think of a couple downsides to this product. One, which bothers me the most, isn't really a product flaw, just a monitor flaw. Maybe it's just me, but I can spend a good hour or two adjusting the size and position of my picture with the little buttons on the bottom, and I can never seem to get it perfect. If I have the position right, then the shape is wrong, and visa-versa. Oh well.
It does have quite a bit of color options, screen shape options, and even language settings, which are all accessible via the button panel on the underside of the screen.
The only other thing is that there are two faint black lines that run across the screen, seemingly dividing it into thirds from top to bottom. I don't know if this is a flat-screen thing, or just this model, since this is my first one. However, much like the glare, you have to really look hard to see anything.
Another thing that I wasn't really expecting (I guess I should have been) was how deep this thing is. It is as deep as it is wide. I had to rebuild my computer shelves to allow it some breathing room. I guess when they said "Flat Screen" I was thinking about those plasma tv's that look like a picture on the wall.
When I saw what this thing retails for, I was shocked. I personally wouldn't spend that much for a monitor. On the other hand, If you are in the market for something this expensive, the Sony Trinitron is a great catch that is easy to use and easy on the eyes.
