I have been using this unit since last July, and have not had a single problem. On the contrary, I am thrilled with every aspect. We are using the RP-56 with a 32" JVC tv set, and the picture is just breathtaking. My wife and I watch 2-3 movies a week, and we have had no complaints.
Music-wise, comparing this unit to my Sony 5 disk changer, and my AMC single play deck, the sound quality is noticeably of a lower quality...that is not necessarily a bad thing...a dvd player can't do EVERYTHING well. Maybe it is just the optical link versus the analog cables the other two use??
My only complaint is the remote, it's a little awkward to use, and not ergonomically designed. Otherwise, I don't see how you can go wrong with this player with such a quality set of chips at this price.
