I've always liked the Panosonic Omnivision series of VCRs, finding them reliable and economical, and they deliver a quality picture. And they look pretty good on your shelf to boot.
This VCR will fit the bill for persons like myself who have a mono television. If you have a stereo TV, you really should spend another 20 bucks or so and get a stereo VCR.
The mechanism on this VCR does seem a little noisier than other, more expensive VCRs. This is only a factor during quiet passages while sitting close to the set. And truthfully, now that I have lived with this VCR for a couple of months I don't notice it anymore. I agree with the other review about a slight inconvenience with the connections. The coax RF inputs are in a recess that makes it harder than average to tighten the cables. But since you only do this once, it's not a big deal.
