After being yelled at for too long because my 4 speaker and subwoofer system was waking everyone up I decided to go for a decent pair of headphones. The only problem was that I had no cash. After browsing Circuit City for quite a bit, I set my eyes on these babies. For $25 you get a nice set of “professional” looking closed cup studio headphones. I wasn’t expecting much from these, but they turned out to be more then worth the $25.
Headphones…
Over all the headphones feel and look great. The top and sides are well padded and are easily adjustable. With my old headphones that I took off of my CD player the wire was not long enough to reach from the back of my computer (which is on the floor) to my head without me bending over in this awkward position. With these you get like 5 ft of wire, which is great. I can walk around the room without being constrained by the wire. Another problem I had with my old headphones was that my hair always got stuck in it while I was trying to take them off. Haven’t had this problem with these. Also these headphones are big enough so that if you have them on for long periods of time they don’t make an imprint on your ears and cut off the blood supply to your head. These fit neatly right around your ears. I have had these for a few weeks now and I have spilled soda on them, dragged them around the room and done other not so “normal wear and tear” things to them. So far it has lived through all the torture without a scratch. Just in case they break it comes with a 1-year warranty. One other good feature is that it comes with a big plug adapter for stereos, which I don’t have, but it might come in handy one day if I don’t lose it first.
Sound…
The sound quality of these headphones is surprisingly good. The closed cup feature means that the sound doesn’t go all over the place, so people around you don't have to hear it. It also keeps outside sounds out as well, so the sound is clear with out outside interference. Also these headphones have “virtual” surround sound, which is quite good. When I play counterstrike I can hear where the bad guys are coming from. One problem is that sometimes I put them on backwards and I end up getting killed, cause I think they are coming from the opposite direction. The bass is quite good, which is nice since I listen to lots of rap, which needs base. The sound is generally clear and very crisp.
A Final Though…
For $25 these were by far the best headphones for the money. They look great and the sound is better than any average consumer will need. Most “studio like” closed cup headphones sell for a lot more, some many times the cost of these. If you are looking for a great set of headphones without closing your bank account, these are the ones to get.
