When it comes to my hair, it is a constant struggle. Living on PEI, it is even more challenging finding a stylist who can style a person of color’s hair. Since I have not found a stylist, or anyone who is willing to take the chance on me, I have to do my hair at home. Finding products can be a hassle, but one product that has always been good to me is the Pantene Pro-V line. A few years back, I decided to try Pantene Pro-V Intensive Restoration Moisturizing Treatment because it states that it helps reconstruct damaged hair.
Reading up on the features, here is what it states:
Helps to repair roughened cuticles
Penetrates to seal in moisture for hair that is manageable...shiny...protected.
To be honest, even though I trust the Pantene line, I still get apprehensive about dong my hair at home. Even though the company has products specifically designed for women of color, I was still worried that I may cause more harm to my hair, or do something that could be irreparable. But, I liked what this product had to offer and decided to give it a try. The directions are fairly simple and I figure there is no way I can mess that up. After shampooing, apply a generous amount to the hair; let it sit for 3-5 minutes and rinse. Since my hair is very coarse, I usually sit under a dryer for 20 minutes for a deep conditioning.
Washing my hair is a process and it usually takes a few hours from start to finish. The first time I used the Pantene Pro-V Intensive Restoration Moisturizing Treatment, I was skeptical. My hair was very damaged, kinky and impossible to comb. After shampooing, I put a generous amount of the Pantene in my hair. After starting to massage the cream, it felt as if my hair went from hard to manage to smooth. I could not believe how quickly it started to work on my hair. The more I massaged, the more my hair would detangle. As I put the comb to my hair, I found it to run through my hair very easily and I did not have to do battle. I was then able to deep condition my hair as usual. After rinsing my hair, it felt so light and free. I was able to run my fingers through my hair along with combing it. I found styling my hair to be simple and not so challenging. Once all was said and done, my hair looked shiny, smooth and I felt so good. My husband loved my hair, gave me lots of compliments and that was what sold me on this product.
I washed my hair yesterday after neglecting my hair for a while. Being pregnant and raising a 2-year old has been a challenge and something had to give. I was concerned about what kind of challenge I would be facing. I put some of the Pantene Pro-V Intensive Restoration Moisturizing Treatment in my hair and I was so shocked at how quickly the damage was repaired. Styling my hair was a little more challenging since it was a while since I did my hair, but in the end, my hair is shiny, soft and it feels as if my hair is not weighing down on my head.
Overall, I am very impressed with the Pantene Pro-V Intensive Restoration Moisturizing Treatment. Each time I use it, it helps to make my hair feel soft and manageable. I find the cream to be light and smooth in texture and the results are in my hair at the end. I still have not found a stylist, but until I do, I am confident in the fact that having this product in my home will help make my hair look and feel great.
