| 42ENGLISH's Full Review: Pantene Restore & Renew Deep Fortifying Treatment |
I had a perm a couple of months ago which turned out a little disappointing. Most of the curl is gone and has been replaced by what I could call nothing else but dry frizz. My bad, I think having a perm is taking a chance every time. It is either good or bad and when its bad there is a long period of time to pay for the mistake.
At the moment, I am constantly shopping for deep moisturizers and treatments to tame the frizz whilst having it trimmed regularly until it will eventually grow out. I found Pantene Restore & Renew Deep Fortifying Treatment at Walmart for $4.59 as one of my first mending treatments.
Ingredients:
Water, stearyl alcohol, cyclopentasiloxane, cetyl alcohol, stearamidoproply dimethylamine, dimethicone, glutamic acid, benzyl alcohol, fragrance, panthenyl ethyl ether, edta, panthenol, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone.
Pantenes claim:
New Amino Pro-V Complex
Undo 3 months of damage in just 3 minutes! This formula with an exclusive Amino Pro-V Complex restores moisture balance from roots to tip for hair that looks shiny, luminous, and renewed.
Penetrates deep to restore manageability in just 3 minutes.
Doesn't weigh hair down.
Intensive conditioning formula.
Restores shine of hair damaged by styling.
Gentle enough for chemically or color treated hair.
Restores smoothness to roughened cuticles
My Experience:
Before taking my shower, I washed my hair well, took about a quarter size amount of this product and and applied it evenly all over my hair, concentrating on the problem areas for added effect. It was thick and creamy and clung to the hair easily. I left it on while I showered and rinsed with hot water.
I can usually tell if a conditioner is working by running my hands through it when it is wet. I find that if the tangles start falling out through your fingers you have found a good product. When I did this, some of the tangles disappeared but some were a little more difficult to run the fingers through. However, when I took the brush to it, the tangles fell out easily.
I then went ahead and blew dry my hair. My hair was more manageable but I did sense a feel of build up and my hair was still as dull as it was before I washed it. The more I used it, the more the build up. This may be because of the damage it sustained from the perm (i.e. my hair has become extremely porous) but I expected more from a product that claims it is DEEP fortifying.
Conclusion:
I picked up Pantene Restore & Renew Deep Fortifying Treatment because I had recently used another Pantene product, Pantene Body Builder Gel and was really pleased with it. I thought this product did condition my hair but at the cost of build up making my hair dull and lifeless.
Although I applaud Pantene for its limited use of chemical ingredients, I wouldnt recommend this product for permed and color treated hair. It may be more effective for normal untreated hair.
