The Ice Man thaws out some with the Patton PUH680-U Utility Heater.

Product Rating:
Pros: Heats to maximum fast, fan forces air outward nicely for a few feet, Safety Features.
Cons: Doesn't effectively heat larger rooms. Six foot cord seems short. Unit very noisy.
The Bottom Line: I'm surprised the unit performs the same as the day we bought it, with the low price and heavy use I thought it would’ve broken by now. Great bargain.

My wife and I live in a one-bedroom apartment; there is no central heat, just a large wall heater in the living room, in the winter every other room is an icebox. Whats especially bad for me is waking up at 4:30 on workdays, going from all nice and sleepy/toasty under the covers to jumping into the arctic conditions of our bedroom (insert sex life joke here). The cold is downright painful and something needed to be done, and with this little Patton PUH680-U Utility Heater Ive created a perimeter of warmth (roughly a 4x8ft area though it will take the chill from a 13 by 10 foot room if left running on high) that shields me from the harsh cold until I get to the bathroom and its ceiling heater. When I reach out to hit the alarm snooze button, I turn on the unit, in 8 to 16 minutes (sometimes I hit the snooze twice eh) when I get out of bed; my perimeter of heat is established.
My wife runs the unit constantly when she is in the bedroom. She gets out of bed from my side on cold mornings. If it ever got too cold, Id walk the heater around the apartment with an extension cord (clip it to my belt).

Recommendation
Were going into our third winter with this heater and Im somewhat surprised that the unit performs the same as the day we bought it, with the low price and heavy use I thought it wouldve broken by now (ten year limited warranty). Unfortunately the limited area this device actually keeps warm, keeps me from giving it anything more than 3 stars (durability and price notwithstanding).
