Pros: Wonderful authentic scent, great creamy shower gel
Cons: If you want this as a hair product, don't.
The Bottom Line: Philosophy Old Fashioned Eggnog as replaced Cinnamon Buns as my favorite Philosophy 3-in-1 scent. Philosophy has yet another winner!

| SHeineman's Full Review: Philosophy Old Fashioned Eggnog 3 In 1 Shampoo, Co... |
I was almost giddy when I saw earlier in the fall that Philosophy was introducing an eggnog scent. I love eggnog, the drink and especially anything fragranced in that scent (candles...mmmmm!). And I LOVE Philosophy 3-in-1's. These are easily my favorite shower gels ever. I ordered online before having ever smelled in it person and was so thrilled that the scent was as great as I had hoped! Old Fashioned Eggnog accomplished the unthinkable. It moved Cinnamon Buns out of the position of my #1 favorite shower gel.
The Packaging
Eggnog 3-in-1 is packaged in the same clear bottle with a fliptop as the other 3-in-1's but with a slight twist. The bottle has big brown splotches on it, looking like the splotches of cow. It's cute because it kind of goes along with the theme of "Old Fashioned Eggnog" and a bit different from their usual even though it retains the same shape and size. The packaging allows the color of the product to show through. If that's Senorita Margarita, you can see a great lime green. But with the cream color of this one, the splotches add some interest.
The cow splotches replace Philosophy's usual recipe printed on the bottle. *gasp*
The Scent
The scent smells, to my nose, almost exactly like a cup of eggnog at Christmas time. A few of their 3-in-1's bear only a passing resemblance to their namesake but this is not one of those. The scent is creamy and rich, with hints of spice. It's really nice!
The scent doesn't linger on the skin outside of the shower, even though it is nice and strong when you are using it in the shower. I prefer that because I wear perfume daily and often use a shower gel that wouldn't layer well with my perfume. I'm not crazy about wearing foody/fruity scents throughout the day (outside of vanilla and citrus either) so these are great. I must admit though that there are a few of the scents that I'd love a lotion in. Philosophy is slowly adding some lotions to their collection so maybe someday I'll have my Eggnog lotion!
The Shower Gel
Philosophy's 3 in 1's are among the best shower gels I've used! The gel itself is thick and creamy. A small amount on a shower pouf gives lots of thick lather.
My skin is relatively normal with little to no dryness. So I'm not the best to talk about how moisturizing it is for dry skin. I find it sufficiently moisturizing and it does have a nice creamy texture. I do have a tendency to break out on my chest with super creamy moisturizing shower gels but I haven't had any problems with this one.
3-in-1's as a Shampoo/Conditioner
Don't buy these products if you want something specifically for use on your hair! They just don't work well for that purpose, at least for my normal-dry fine wavy hair. I've tried, and they leave my hair dry and tangled. I hate that Philosophy bills them this way because they don't seem to work for many people used that way. A lot of times in Epinions reviews, they are rated down for not doing this job well even though the reviewer may say they are a nice shower gel. Philosophy does have some very nice hair products that smell wonderful so if you want something for that purpose, look to those instead.
So the 3-in-1's perform one of their tasks very, very well and the other two not so well. Fortunately, I only want it for the shower gel so I am very, very pleased and will continue to collect 3-in-1's.

Price and Purchasing
Philosophy Old Fashioned Eggnog can be purchased at Philosophy.com, Sephora.com, and Drugstore.com/Beauty.com and brick and mortar stores that sell Philosophy products (see their website for a locator).
16 oz of product is $18. That's not a bad deal because a little goes a long way. Oddly, last time I checked, Drugstore.com's price was $2 less than the other places. Just a little FYI.
Thanks for reading!
