poneyby's Full Review: Milton Bradley Pictionary Junior
I am by no means an artist, but I have always been pretty good at Pictionary. You just need to draw fast and it also helps if your partners know how your mind works.
Your goal is to have your team to reach the end of the board before the other team does. With each square on the board there is a color category. These are:
Orange = All Play( each team draws the word and the first to guess it correct before the timer runs out wins that word )
Blue = Object( the world will be an object like pencil or table )
Yellow = Person Place or Animal( examples: fish, hospital, fisherman )
Green = Difficult ( lets just say a very frustrating category )
Each team takes turns drawing their word and if they correctly get the word the roll the dice and move up that number to that color square. You only have 60 seconds in order to draw the word and have it guessed. If you fail to have your team guess the word you stay where you are and the next team goes. You keep drawing cards from the color square you are on until you get one correctly guessed.
One of the best things about this game are the pictures you come up with. People look at what you have drawn after the time runs out and say "That looks NOTHING like that word". Since you do only have 60 seconds to draw you can't take time being neat. Most of the drawings are lines and funny looking objects. If you say ANYTHING at all while you are drawing you lose that turn. It really does help to know how your partner thinks. My youngest sister was always very good at that with me. I am sorry to say ,but my mother had no clue at all how my mind works.
Pictionary is a fun game to play at parties and family gatherings. Not a recommended game for young children. I do believe though they have Child Pictionary that is for younger children. It can be a very frustrating game and some of the words are impossible to draw. If you have very little patience then you may not want to play this game. I think it's a lot of fun and challenging.
