I purchased this television about three weeks ago from an authorized Pioneer dealer (its the only way you get Pioneer's 2 year warranty)and I rate it as the best purchase I have ever made. I am a bit of a fanatic about picture quality, as I really enjoy my television viewing, and does this set ever deliver the goods.
Installation was super easy--1 HDMI cable from my satellite provider to my home theater receiver, one HDMI cable from my DVD player to my receiver, and one cable from my receiver to my Pro-FHD1. Plug in the power cord, and I was good to go.
I turned the set on to some standard definition channels on my satellite receiver. WOW, that's the best I have ever seen them look (sat. receivers compress a lot of their signal, and picture quality can be somewhat poor at times due to this compression), but this is a GREAT start.
Let's check out some high definition channels via satellite. My wife and I just stared for a few moments, looked at each other, and just said "WOW" to each other. We were floored by the high def picture staring at us--lifelike colors, great skin tones, just like looking at a photograph. You could see details in the high definition picture that to me were unbelievable--one particular scene in a Brazilian jungle where you could see incredible detail in some spiders that were climbing a tree in the foreground.
Another look at each other and another "WOW."
I read many reviews on the web prior to purchasing this television and every single one says if you want the best, then this is it. Seeing it in person in my house tells me that they were not wrong.
DVD--just plain unbelievable, as I have never seen anything to compare. Simply jaw-dropping.
This is simply the best television I have ever purchased.
