This stuffed toy is unlike any other toy I have seen small children have. This "baby's first Pooh" is the softest, most cuddly, easiest to grasp toy that I have seen. I was first introduced to this toy when I went to the nursery at my church, there was a soft pooh sitting on the shelf next to a baby doll. A toddler, soon after his mother brought him in, went right for the brightly colored toy. He grasped pooh's leg tightly in his hand walked around the room with it.
Because it is so soft, this toy is fairly easy to grasp - especially by the toy's limbs. It is okay for them to stick in their mouths as it is not furry. The bright colors of pooh attract their eye and catch their attention from the start. The toy is about 12 inches long, and gives the baby a lot of "chewing room".
The drawback is that, because it is soft, it can not be cleaned the normal way, thus making it hard to clean in day care or other child care settings as it needs to be washed in a pillowcase. Also, because of the material it is made of, it tends to pick up lint off flannel sheets and such.
Overall, I highly recommend this toy. Babies like it because it is bright and attractive. It is also smaller, which makes it easy for their tiny hands to grasp and hold. It is inexpensive, and be found in any toy section with all the other Winnie the Pooh paraphernalia.
This series also comes in "Baby's First Piglet", "Baby's First Tigger", "Baby's First Eeyore", and, I think, "Baby's First Rabbit". They are all very cute, made of the same materials (polyester fibers and polyurethane foam), and just as easy for small hands to grasp. I'm 20 years old, and I own the piglet. He's the best stuffed animal in my collection!
