| supahonda's Full Review: Poolguard Pool Alarm Pgrm |
In my city, it is a by-law to have a 4 foot fence around your yard as well as a pool-alarm if you happen to have a pool. So, I bought a pool, made my fence and now I just needed to new alarm. I wanted to just go out and buy the cheapest alarm possible, just to meet the bylaw. While I was looking, I found the Poolguard Pool Alarm PGRM, and I decided to buy it. So far, everything about this pool-alarm was been perfect.
The Poolguard Pool Alarm PGRM was very easy to install, and it only took me about 3 minutes to put on. All you have to do is snap it on the rail of your pool and you are good to go! Then , testing the alarm is very simple as well, which took me about a minute. SO, installing the whole thing only took my 5 minutes!! To set up the remote reciever was a bit more difficult. The remote reciever lets you control the alarm in your pool from inside the house, and when the alarm sounds, it will also sound inside your house. This took my a good half hour to install.
The Poolguard Pool Alarm PGRM is battery powered, and takes a 9-volt battery. I hardly ever have to change the battery, so the life is pretty good on this alarm. It is apporxamitly one year of battery life.
Poolguard's Pool Alarm PGRM detects entry into the water, and when it does, it sounds a loud, 98 decibal, pulsating alarm that can be heard inside the house (if you have the remote reciever turned on). The alarm will automatically reset after 5 minutes of, well.. alarming. It also comes with a white reset button that prevents accidental disabaling of the alarm.
When you are swimming, all you have to do if turn the alarm over and jump in!! The alarm is compatable with solar blankets.
The Poolguard Pool Alarm PGRM also meets all ASTM safety standards and helps protect against children or pets falling into the pool. The alarm is very sensitive and I have never had a false alarm with it.
I have had one major experience that changed my life with the Poolguard Pool Alarm PGRM. While I was inside reading the paper, I got up to let my dog out. I went to the washroom, but I was cut short when I heard the alarm! Falcon (my dog) had gotten caught in the blanket and was stuggling to get out the pool! I quickly fished him out, but he probably would have died if I didn't help him out.
The only major problem I had with the Poolguard Pool Alarm PGRM-AG is that it broke when I dropped it on the patio, but I just brought it back becasue it is covered by a three-year warrenty.
Overall, this is a great pool alarm that I recomend to anyone looking for an affordable peice of equipment that could save lives.
