| beniboose's Full Review: Porter-Cable 2" Brad Nailer BN200A |
I purchased this brad nailer bundled with a Porter-Cable pancake type compressor (see my review on the compressor: Model #CPFAC2600P) which turned out as a great starter kit in the fun world of air nailers.
I purchased it mostly to help me in making wood furniture, interior remodeling, and other tasks where a hammer and a nail are not the perfect solution. The nailer came in its own box with all you need to start working right away (nailer, allen keys, oil, a 1000 1-1/4" brads and the instruction manual). The nailer itself is easy to load and even easier to clean in case of a jam. You just pop open the front end of the nailer to expose the entire path of the nail. I can't imagine a better way to clean a nail jam.
I've shot a few hundreds brads so far and I had no dry fire, no jam and no problem at all. I've done my homework before committing my purchase and according to other reviews (specialized magazines, websites, tool reviews, etc.), this nailer is among the best one you can purchase on the market at the present time.
Now for my very own impression on this product, I would say I'm extremely satisfied. I would point out the overall design of the tool as the most impressive part. Very few nailers will allow you to so easily pop open the front end and have a full and complete access to the nail path. Cleaning jams (if only I had any) would have been extremely easy. Other nailers require the use of an allen key to clear a jam. Second of all, the magazine for the nails is also robust and is made of steel (other manufacturer makes them in plastic). The air exaust rotates on 360° leaving you all the opportunity to orient it at your convenience. Another cool thing is the removable rubber nose which can be stored on the gun itself instead of somewhere in the carrying case. This way, if you need it, it's right there on the nailer. The nailer is light and thin and can be easily used in tight areas.
I had to deal once in the past with the Porter-Cable customer service and I was pleased to see my "maybe not defective" tool replaced no question asked. Satisfaction come first on their list. With all that said, I purchased this brad nailer with confidence.
My only negative comments would be regarding the space in the carrying case which is somewhat limited. It would have been great to be able to carry a variety of nails. The space is there but won't allow you to store a box of 3000 - 2" brads. The other sad thing is about the trigger which comes in 2 versions (simple action and double action). They included only the simple action type and the other type is available for free at your request. Gheez, it would have been so simple to just include it with the nailer...
