It’s one thing to get organized, it’s something completely different to stay that way. I know from first hand experience the frustration of knowing I wrote down a phone number or address and not knowing where it disappeared to. Standard sized Post-It Notes are a godsend but sometimes you need something a little bigger – and hey – wouldn’t lined Post-It Notes be even cooler? I started using these styled Post-It Notes several years ago, they made trips to the grocery store a little easier since I could just temporarily tack it to the front of my coupon organizer and not have to worry about it floating, getting lost or ending up in the middle of the coupon stack. These are just as convenient as the smaller sized sheets, great for a family message center and only cost about a dollar more than the 2 x 2 and 3 x 3 varieties.
Post It Lined Big Notes
These are essentially the same product as the regular Post-It Notes that have become an office staple over the past ten years. What makes them different? Well, first off the size – a whopping four inches by four inches so there is plenty of room to write your message. Secondly, it’s lined. I am what I consider a “neat writer” but give me something without lines and I end up writing all over the place. With these notes you can write out a list, have phone numbers posted in case of an emergency or just leave a list of chores for the family to take care of. The sticky portion of the back of the note is standard sized [about three quarters of an inch] and sticks well even though this is a larger than the usual Post-It sized notes. This was my biggest concern when I first purchased these – would they stick? The knock off brands stick for a day or so then you end up with them on the floor, stuck to your shoes or worse – having them get stuck to a family pet and driving them insane.
These are available in several different lot sizes; individual pads can be purchased for about $1.19, multi packs from $2.99 to $3.99 and the bulk pack of 12 for about $6.99. For me buying the multi pack is the best way to go since everyone in the house uses them. The boys use these or index cards when they need a list of things for school and I use them for everything from keeping track of expenses to things that I need to pick up at the store. Since they can be attached to almost every surface without the worry of it leaving a mark I can tack them up on the mirror, refrigerator, computer monitor or even door so whoever the note is intended for will see it. If I had to make one complaint about this notepad it would be that some type of ink take forever to dry when used on them. Some gel pens have a tendency to smear and take three to four minutes to completely dry. Sharpies, a true passion of mine, work great on this but do bleed through to other pages if the sheet isn’t removed from the stack before you start writing the note.
These come in the usual yellow Post-It Note color and are not fluorescent. If yellow isn’t your color there are others to choose from however I’ve only seen them in the pastel variety so be sure to check out the stock at your local office supply store on any of the online stores that carry these. The color is just right to catch someone’s eye but not obnoxious, some times the fluorescent ones are so loud that it makes it hard to read a note without rubbing your eyes or wanting to crinkle it up and pitch it in the trash. The boys like the color but have been bugging me to pick up some of the other shades for a little bit of variety.
The Bottom Line
These are a great product from the makers of the original Post-It Note. For the price you get a larger-than-standard sized pad that can be used for a variety of tasks both in the home as well as in the office. It can and will stick to almost any type of surface without and residue or tack left behind. These are 100% safe for kids to use since the adhesive won’t stick to skin – but it will stick to everything else. If you are looking for a way to keep in touch with family members that seem to always be on the go, need to make short grocery list or keep track of purchases when on the road, the Post It Lined Big Notes is a great pick.
