Pros: Repels ticks, even when their are millions.
Cons: stinks to high heaven. (a pro?)
The Bottom Line: Totally buy this product if you want a very effective alternative to harmful DEET based products.

I like to go hiking with the dogs, but what I don't like is coming home and finding two ticks on me and one on the dog. Tick are by far one the nastiest creatures ever conceived by Lucifer himself. Since I didn't want to stop hiking with the dogs, and I still have several months left of non-tick repelling spot-on treatment, I needed something for the dogs and myself. I obviously didn't want to soak the dogs in DEET (nor myself, for that matter) so I looked for au naturale and found this stuff at Target.
I have to say, it works beautifully. We have gone on several hikes and have come home tick-free every time and they are BAD this year due to the massive amounts of rain my state has had to endure. On the negative side, the little spray pumps sucks. Bad. It's pretty hard to spray and that seriously annoys me, but not enough to stop using it. It does smell. A lot. A lot a lot. It makes your lungs burn and your nose tingle. But again, better than DEET. Another plus is that anything can smell you coming from about 100 yards away, so mountain lions are no longer a threat. (Just kidding, of course. It is NOT a mountain lion deterrent).
I probably wouldn't recommend it for kids due to the strong smell and the fact that it tingles on bare skin. It feels like when you put Bengay on. Most kids won't stand for that, I think--unless they're hardcore campers then, yeah. I think it'd be okay. I'd say probably 10 years and up is safe to deal with the tingle and smell.
It's been good on the dogs. I only do their legs and their bellies though. I really wouldn't douse them in it.
So all in all, a great product that keeps me (happily) tick free with the dogs.
