I was given this drill (of all things) as a Christmas gift by my dad. He has the best of intentions... :) But he also wants his daughter to be totally prepared at home for any eventuality.
This drill has been well used and has performed well. It fits comfortably in the hand for a battery-pack drill. The torque settings and two speeds provide ample power to get anything from the smallest assembly job to a small-time construction (mine was attaching window boxes to the front of my home and screwing down loose flooring) jobs.
It comes with two screw adaptor bits which is nice, but it would have been better to give a few bits as well. I do like the way they pop right into the base, though. That way they are always there and you don't have to look around for them.
My Ryobi also came with two batteries - a boon for long jobs, a quick charger and a halogen-bulb flashlight. I have used the included flashlight often - it's a nice little plus for the kit.
I have noticed, however, that as I continue using the drill, the batteries are not holding up as long as they did in the past. Even following the directions to a "T" - they aren't holding up as well. At least there are two batteries so one can always be quick charged in case of emergency.
The first complete charge on the batteries lasted for over six hours of heavy duty work. It was used to screw down squeaky floor boards before carpeting was installed. I had the drill running for six hours consistently and the charge held up well. Since that time I'd say it will last about three hours. But since this is my first experience with a cordless battery powered tool, this is a good outcome. I have no basis for comparison.
Overall, the drill is good for home use. If you are doing heavy-duty home construction, I would recommend a higher voltage drill for more power with less effort.
The kit stores well and the drill is easy to use. But I wonder if it will hold up to long-term continued use. I think I will have to invest in replacing one or both battery packs eventually so that I can get the life back.
