| lazyleaf's Full Review: AcerScan 610P Flatbed Scanner |
This is my second and favorite scanner. Going from handheld to flatbed was great to me. The pixel resolution available at the time amazed me as did the 30-bit color. Well, everything was fine until I actually had to use the thing. I didn't like the software that was packaged it, so I used Paint Shop Pro (Twain driver wouldn't work with anything else). But as it goes, the scanner would take forever for high resolution scans. Another dissapointment was that one side of the scanning area would have a red haze when anything was scanned in that region. I don't know if overuse or bad engineering caused it. And finally, the drivers off the website for the DTC SCSI card would not work, so use that original driver on the cd or else be faced with trouble. Anyhow, I'm glad this thing was SCSI and not parallel. You know the funny thing about the little picture representing the scanner is not what this scanner looks like, go fig. Remember the technicalities.
