Pros: Crisp and classy sound. Lots of bass for such thin satellites.
Cons: Not good for super-blasting i.e. heavy metal, hardcore rap.
The Bottom Line: They are slightly pricy, but they live up to the proud Altec Lansing name....clean, clear, nerve tickling sound and strong, soothing, refined bass.

| ungalicious's Full Review: Altec Lansing ATP3W 2 Speakers |
These are the first amplified pc speakers that I have ever purchased and I am very pleased with them. The bass has plenty of "oomph" and the sound is very clear no matter if you're playing a tape, CD, MD, DVD, etc. I love watching DVD's with these speakers because it feels just like the movie theaters. The thing I like most about these speakers is that they provide a "stereo" or "surround" sound that makes you feel enveloped in the music. Unlike most speakers, the sound isn't distinguishably originating from one part of the room, it's all around you! The bass, treble, and volume controls are conveniently located ON the satellites and not on the subwoofer...so none of that getting down on your knees to adjust the sound. The only flaw with these speakers is that they cannot be played extremely extremely loudly. I live in a college dorm, and many of my friends like to feel lots of bass and turn the volume up all the way, which these speakers can handle, but with some types of music that has high treble, the speakers get a little raspy/crackly/staticky. But these speakers are so nice sounding and looking I don't like to punish them anyways, but I'm sure they could perform for me if I really wanted. Although these speakers were my first, I have acquainted myself very well with nearly all the speakers on the market...and so I must say that these are an extremely good buy.
