Pros: Affordable, doesn't take up as much space as two separate units would, durable.
Cons: Some remote functions, slow to load.
The Bottom Line: If you don't have the money for an expensive model and would like something to save space over having two separate units, this is definitely the way to go.

| redwolf13's Full Review: Samsung DVD-V2000 DVD Player / VCR Combo |
I decided to buy the Samsung DVD V2000 when my VCR broke down and I needed a new one. I wanted to keep my VCR because of the VHS tapes I already own, but also wanted to upgrade to DVD. This model seemed like the perfect solution. For me, it has been.
I am not one of the more technologically advanced so I can't give a detailed review about specific aspects of DVD playback, but I can talk about other features.
This product is very easy to use and set up. I got it home, hooked it up to my TV and followed the very easy instructions. Within minutes I was set to go.
The sound quality for DVD's is very good, my husband has a fairly advanced surround sound system and the player performs wonderful with this. The sound quality on the VHS side of things is not as good, however. Sometimes we get static that comes through--though I can't elaborate on why that is. We have both tried everything we could think of to fix it to no avail.
The picture quality is also very good for DVD's. The VHS end of the player holds up better under this scrutiny as well. The only down side is that the picture for DVD's takes a little longer to load than for most models, especially when skipping between chapters. If you are a patient person, however, this is not such a big deal.
The remote is fairly easy to use, but the chapter skip button is the same as the fast forward button and I have often skipped a chapter when I only meant to go forward or back a few seconds or so. The zoom function is wonderful and my husband and I have used it often when trying to see something more clearly in the background or for reading small lettering.
All in all, I have had no big problems whatsoever. I have moved three times and the player has held up well--it still works the same as it did when I first brought it home. I am nervous that maybe one side will someday break down, but I have had the product for over a year with no mechanical glitches or problems. For the money it costs this model definitely deserves some consideration.
