Magick1's Full Review: Schiff Move Free Advanced With Uniflex And Joint F...
I have bad knees and have had for YEARS. I always wondered if there was a miracle cure out there that could help me, rather than have to have surgery on my knees. Many years ago, someone suggested that I look for glucosamine and chondroitin and try taking these over the counter supplements. Worse case base, they won’t help and I am out a few bucks. Best case, they will alleviate the pain and I will be able to walk a bit better and feel better doing it.
The Product
This product, I usually purchase at a warehouse club and I get a really decent price for two of the 140 count bottles of Schiff Move Free Advanced. You are expected to take 2 pills a day. But initially, they say it might behoove you to take 4 pills (2 pills with a meal twice a day) for the first couple of weeks. I just started with 2 pills once a day and it seemed to be ok with me. These pills are what I classify as horse pills. These are coated pills but they are roughly ¾ of an inch long and roughly ¼ of an inch wide. They are not terribly thick, but if you have trouble with larger pills, these are some of the largest I have seen. They are even bigger than some of the largest antibiotic pills or ibuprofen pills that I have seen on the market.
I have been using this particular version of the chondroitin and glucosamine products for roughly a year now. I find that when I forget to take it, after a couple of weeks, my knees will be really painful when I have been sitting for a while and I go to stand up and get moving again. But, when I do take these pills regularly and I keep taking them daily like I am supposed to, I don’t have as many issues with my knees.
This particular brand has Uniflex™ and Joint Fluid™ in the pills. They claim on the bottle that this is a “ground breaking dual bioflavonoid anti-oxidant system that protects joints from harmful oxidants that accelerate the breakdown of the cartilage and joint tissues”. Please note, these are supplements and have not had the information reviewed by the Federal Drug Administration, so it’s not something approved by the FDA.
The bottle further states that this product “helps to lubricate, rejuvenate, re-hydrate and repair joints”. These particular pills also have the glucosamine and chondroitin in them with the above mentioned Uniflex and Joint Fluid for added assistance in relieving the joint pain.
The bottle states the following as well: Guaranteed: No added sugar (sucrose, fructose or lactose), salt (sodium chloride), yeast, wheat, gluten or milk. No preservatives or artificial flavors.
These supplements, like most every supplement, states that if you are pregnant, lactating, or on prescription medication, that you should consult your physician before using this product. As a side note, make sure if you are not in any of these categories that you tell your physician if you are taking these for their records as something they might prescribe to you down the road could interact with this supplement.
Overall Impressions
I have, as mentioned, been taking this particular mixture for about 1 year. I can say that I do feel a difference using them. They do feel or claim that this particular version provides better relief of joint pain that just the glucosamine and chondroitin alone. I can say that it seems to help relieve the discomfort I feel in my knees more quickly that the glucosamine and chondroitin alone that I have taken in the past.
I recently was reminded at how well this product does help me. I take kickboxing classes. And, on a Thursday about 2 weeks ago, it was an exceptionally hard class. We were up and down off the floor doing push-ups getting up doing jumping jacks and going down to the floor and getting back up, many times over and over. I had forgotten to take the supplement for about 1 week or so at this time.
The next morning I felt a bit stiff and sore, but nothing major. Saturday morning I woke up and could barely move my knees without writhing in pain. Walking was extremely painful too. I wasn’t sure what was happening. Then, as the day progressed, it got more painful and the knees became stiffer. If I sat for more than 20 minutes and tried to get up and move about, it was terrible. Ibuprofen wasn’t cutting my discomfort, even if I took 800 mg of the stuff. Then, I realized that I had not been taking my supplements.
I started taking these again, and after about 2 – 3 days, the pain started to dissipate. Now, after about 2 weeks of taking these supplements religiously, I am feeling much better. I don’t feel the discomfort when walking or when trying to get up after sitting for a while. Which, when sitting at work for extended periods of time, it is wonderful to stand up and not feel a terrible pain in my knees when I start walking!
I am not a doctor or anything close. I cannot and will not suggest to people that they should take this, especially without consulting their own doctors. But, I do know, from my experience, that I have seen a great amount of relief from the pain that I feel in my knees. If I don’t take these supplements, I notice that the pain starts coming back and it is almost unbearable after about two weeks of not taking these supplements. If you have knee or joint pain, check with your doctor. Maybe you can try these and maybe it will work for you as well! Good luck!
