I am a firm believer in Scotts products. Being in the lawn and garden business at a local home improvement center, I research everything that comes into the store. If I don't like it, I am not going to push the product.
Now Scotts Turf builder is an excellent product. Why? Well for one thing it has a nitrogen content of 29. What does that mean? Nitrogen gives you your greening and growth. With 29 in the analysis, you are going to get a heck of a lot of green.
Now on the other hand, you also get a lof of growth. That means you will have to cut your grass a bit more often. The time to use your Turf builder would be right before the growing season. This will give your grass the kick it needs to start producing stronger roots, thicker and greener grass.
Here in Florida, we get pretty hot and dry. Even though Scotts tells you that it will not burn, you have to be careful during your hottest months. Just be sure to read the directions and follow them to the letter.
Another good factor with Scotts Turf builder is you can use it on any type of grass. With some fertilizers they are made to be used on specific grasses so read the label.
When applying your Turf builder, cut your grass then wait about a day or two. Spread your fertilizer then water it in well. An great time to do this is on sprinkler day. Then give it a few days before you mow again. You want to be sure the fertilizer has a chance to work its way into the ground.
Scotts Turf builder will usually remain in the soil for about 6 weeks. Unlike those generic brands that last 3 to 7 days. With fertilizer, you truly get what you are paying for.
I highly recommend Scotts Turf builder, especially if you want a nice green lawn that will be the envy of all your neighbors.
