I’ve enjoyed Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on occasion for a number of years now. It has a robust taste, nice body and just the right amount of bitterness on the finish. My local grocery had it on sale for $5.99 a six pack and so I picked one up.
Yes, this beverage has had many reviews here, but I wanted to weigh in.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is brewed by the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. of Chico, CA. Their web site describes this beer as “…a delightful interpretation of a classic style. It has a deep amber color and an exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. Generous quantities of premium Cascade hops give the Pale Ale its fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor.”
The ale has 5.6 abv and measures 37 bitterness units. It is made with two row Pale and Caramel Malts, Cascade finishing hops and Magnum and Pearle bittering hops. It’s also won a number of awards at the Great American Beer Festival, including American Pale Ale: 1995, 1994, 1993; Classic English Pale Ale: 1992; Pale Ale: 1990, 1989, 1987
But talk is cheap. Time for it to demonstrate once again how great it is:
The NoseFruitiness and mild hops greet the open.
The PourA medium amber color, easy forming, long-lasting head,
The TasteThe fruitiness becomes citrus, the hop flavor more pronounced and a mild bitterness comes to the forefront. The carbonation is fairly mild, but noticeable.
The Aftertaste The citrus flavor lingers, then subsides, the bitterness intensifies slightly and the hops linger into a long, satisfying finish.
I think this beer would go with most foods. The complex finish would go with nearly anything. I’m having a turkey sandwich on dark rye and it’s going great.
I recommend this ale occasionally as a satisfying treat.
