Pros: Sizeable, well seasoned steaks
Cons: Extremely slow service, overcooked
The Bottom Line: If you want a real steakhouse experience in NYC, I would stay away from S&W. Go to Mortons. You'll thank yourself for it.

| kdecker's Full Review: Smith & Wollensky |
Having lived in Manhattan for over two years now, I have had the pleasure of dining in some of the premier steakhouses in NYC. I approached Smith & Woolensky with eagerness.
Alas, I was sorely disappointed.
It took twenty minutes for us just to receive menues. Factor in the wait staff brought us water (finally) with our desserts (?????), and one gets the picture.
My roommate tried to order a couple bottles of wine over the course of the meal...The restaurant had none of his selections.
I ordered my Filet au Poivre medium... It came out over Well Done. The only reason I didnt send it back was fear of waiting an additional 45 minutes.
We did, however, make the mistake of ordering dessert. this also took about twenty minutes to arrive (the waiter brought us water while apologizing). By this time the half bottle of Muscat we ordered (of course, they were out of the Champagne Rose) had warmed to room temperature.
We asked for ice for the bottle of Muscat. We were brought a plastic water container with ice water in it. A fitting end to a disappointing meal.
