| lisaannelaman's Full Review: Smooth 9.2 Series Treadmill |
I've always been very fit and exercised regularly at the gym, however after having my baby it became extremely difficult to get there on a consistent basis. The gyms are very crowded; there are time limits for the cardio equipment and I don't like putting my baby in the nursery.
So, after deciding to purchase a treadmill for my home, I set out to find the best one. I started at my local sporting goods and department stores where I found... JUNK! I would receommend that anyone considering purchasing these treadmills to GET ON THEM! I went in prepared - running shoes, sweatpants & all. After turning them on (if they were even plugged in) I was disturbed at first by the loud noise coming from the motor. After getting on the machine, I was more disturbed by the shaky feel and rattling of the entire unit. I asked some questions (from the one salesman I could find after 20 minutes), but unfortunately he knew no information about any of the machines or why one was different from the other (besides the obvious).
Frustrated from this experience I decided to try a "Specialty Fitness Store" in my area. I went in armed once again with my running shoes and sweatpants. This time I found the treadmills to be quiet, stable and EXPENSIVE! The salesperson was knowledgeable, but pushy. They tried to sell me the most expensive model with the most bells & whistles they could. When I asked about different brands they bashed every one that they didn't carry (surprise, surprise!) I couldn't believe that I was being told I had to spend $2500.00 on a treadmill. I knew that there had to be some happy medium between these two experiences.
The next night I went onto the internet and began some intensive research. During this time the brand name "Smooth" kept popping up. It seemed like there was alot of good reviews and good information on their products. I figured it would be best to see if I could speak to someone before buying sight-unseen so I called the manufacturer. They answered immediately and I spoke to a very helpful and knowledgeable representative. I asked plenty of questions and was given complete answers and even some unbiased opinions. The representative didn't bash all the other brands like the other salespeople I spoke with locally and admitted that some of the brands were definately good products. They did point out, however, why would I spend upwards of $500 or more for another, maybe more recognizable name brand, just to get the same (if not less) features. When I did my own comparison of features I found this to be true! The Smooth models offered the same (if not more) features than TRUE, LANDICE, PRECOR, etc - for less money!
I know this is getting lengthy, but the moral of my story is - I purchased the Smooth 9.2HRC model and am living happy & healthy ever after!
